Mariah feeds the hungry…

Dear lambs,

I am so grateful for my life and for everything that I have.

Over the years I have been passionate about helping those who are less fortunate, especially children in need.

It is shocking that 850 million people face hunger every day. But it pains me even more to know that every six seconds, somewhere in the world, a child dies of hunger. This is unacceptable. Let us commit ourselves today to make a difference and help end hunger around the world.

Join me in support of the World Hunger Relief campaign to benefit the United Nations World Food Programme. Together we will help feed millions of children.

Give children the chance they deserve and give to the World Food Programme.Just $1 will feed 4 children.

Together we can help significantly in bridging the gap between hunger and hope.

Britney will be a waitress

5

Britney will play a waitress in her next video.

And the song is called “Womanizer.”

You see what I mean when I said she will butcher the lyrics. If she didn’t do it with the writing she is doing it in the video.

I wonder if Britney Spears knows Andrea Dworkin or Germaine Greer. Do you think she even knows what a suffragist is?

In any case, I am sure it will make for a good pop song to be played eternally in all the european queer bars.

I still don’t get it, and I feel it was rushed and the chorus is just a repetition of the song title. But, she is still doing the pop and as long as the pop is there, I will be there.

Womanizer, oh!

Preparing for Vietnam

1

I am finding great fun in planning the trip as I read the history of Vietnam. I realized how much there is to know about the Vietnam War even as I studied it. I read about My Lai. The horror the happened there. About the separation and reunification, the changing of the Saigon’s name to Ho Chi Minh City and a lot more. I am mighty excited. I am dreading the plan, though. But, I am sure they will have some nice Bordeaux.

Ailin’ Palin, Vol. 4

2

After staying up last night to watch the debates, I found that there was nothing fresh and both were cordial, I wanted a little Jerry Springer action. I still think that McCain is Republican lite, but what angers me, and has for a while, is his choice for VP. It’s exactly the Republican technique, to undermine credibility for political gain. It’s amazing that the most anti-women candidate running for a position in the Oval Office is a woman herself. I can only imagine how the US would change if she dragged her hate into office. When I was opposed to Bush back in 1999, I was the only one, at least among my Kuwaiti peers. Everyone championed his father as the good-doing liberator of Kuwait. Completely disregarding this:

“On Wednesday July 251990, the U.S. Ambassador in Iraq, April Glaspie, asked the Iraqi high command to explain the military preparations in progress, including the massing of Iraqi troops near the border. The American ambassador declared to her Iraqi interlocutor that Washington, “inspired by the friendship and not by confrontation, does not have an opinion” on the disagreement which opposes Kuwait to Iraq, stating “we have no opinion on the Arab-Arab conflicts”. She also let Saddam Hussein know that the U.S. did not intend “to start an economic war against Iraq”. These statements may have misled Saddam into believing he had received a diplomatic green light from the United States to invade Kuwait (New York TimesSeptember 231990).”

When he took the second election people in Kuwait were divided, but the majority still backed Bush. Mostly because of security reasons. After all, we are stuck in a very unique corner for policy-making. We are in between “The Big Three” (Iraq, Iran and Saudi).

Now, the predominant majority are against Bush, so much so that there is little support for McCain. So, I can gloat in my I-told-you-so’s but it is pointless. Now I am hoping the Palin never makes it. Even though I was Hillary’s biggest fan, I would like to see Obama win. Just because he is the closest chance the world has to a liberal direction and because I am sure Palin thinks that Oscar de la Renta is the Spanish version of the Academy Awards.

SMS: Future texting…

2

Some tech guy discovered a new, fast and efficient way of texting for when we all have touchscreens and abandon the neolithic button. It’s called Swype. Basically this swipe above would form the word “quick,” I think. In any case, it’s fetch and it could totally change the way we look at texting and re-introduce the keyboard. Read on.

3

Koch records is releasing former TLC bandmate, Lisa “Left-Eye” Lopes’s second album that she recorded before she died in a fatal car crash in Honduras. It’s called Eye Legacy and I hope the work on it to make it timely and something Lopes would be proud of. I see they have given the cover some effort, I hope the music too.

The album will feature Tupac Shakur, Lil Mama,Chamillionaire, Missy Elliott, TLC, Wanya Morris of Boyz II Men, Free, Bobby Valentino, and Left Eye’s sister, Reigndrop Lopes. I can’t wait for the single and video.

Zain disrespects women

25

The new Zain commercials for their mobile back-up are horrible and bigoted. This misogyny has got to stop. So much so, that I am considering a boycott. In this series we see an elderly women portrayed as a tool, her ailments (a result of old age) seen as a reason for replacement and discrimination.

The woman in the videos is objectified and made to be the equivalent of a mobile phone. Zain is using sexism for comedy.

Zain’s prejudiced marketing team apparently did not do a demographic study or deem these commercials too discriminatory to be aired.

Shame on Zain. Call 107 and ask to leave a recorded complaint.
