I don’t know… what’s the definition of “child”? The age limit has been forceably increased in the world (as opposed to “puberty” in Islam for being treated as an adult).
Is this really all good or is it not without consequences?
I think calling 13-16/17 year old boys “children” or minors helped in forcing a lot of complacency from parents/the society in the way they view minors and their upbringing… when in fact, such “minors” are more than capable of making a choice, handling a weapon and inflicting bodily harm to you and me given a certain situation or conflict given their possible teenage temperament. Without the loom of facing the death penalty to help them balance their temperament, aren’t we in fact doing them a disservice?

If you argue that such situations shouldn’t happen or at least are rare, then that is more to the point…

Not withstanding the issues that may surround a particular legal system in place in terms of establishing guilt.
