I have to give props to Will Young for releasing one of the prettiest albums of the year filled with love lullabies and flowery tunes. The artwork is horrific, but the songs make up for it. Pick up Let It Go.
Iceland’s economic crisis grows..
1
It’s officially Iceland Day on my blog. And it was all by coincidence, however I will continue to look for Icelandic topics to continue the theme.
I was amazed to find out that the first country to fall pray to this global economic crisis is Iceland. I feel like the poverty escalation in Africa is at least partially due to the credit crisis, but then again, the media rarely focuses on African matters. But, Iceland?
Not only does it have the best standards of living, is one of the least corrupt countries in the world and has exemplary freedoms of speech and action. But it is also the home to some of the best music of the past decade – all in a population that is around a fifth of a million.
Björk releases “Nattura”
2Emiliana Torrini’s Big Jumps…

1Sexy: Kylie’s brand new beau…
3This is what I found out about Kylie’s new boy toy: He is a model. He’s a Spaniard. He looks like Kylie’s ex, except he’s 20 years younger. He has worked with Jennifer Lopez for the LV ads, Gaultier, Etro and other brands. He has nude pictures all over the internet with a disheveled hairdo. He has a deep voice, according to a fashionista friend. Oh, and his name is Andrés Velencoso. For more pictures click the jump.
Why Obama might lose…

Those folks at BBC News always come up with new and forgotten aspects to the election unlike other news agencies that seem to be concerned with the bigger picture. Nitpicking the details can be just as resourceful, as indicated by this article. According to the study, Black candidates for any type of office in the US usually have higher polling numbers than that of the vote box. That is because white voters have “betrayed” black candidates before. There have been stories of candidates who run buy a wide lead only to see that the voting numbers dip. This is what the BBC calls “closet racism.” This phenomenon is known as the Bradley or Wilder Effect. Read on.
Ciara re-invents herself in mysterious ways…
4What is going on here? This is the cover of Ciara’s lead single from Fantasy Ride and I don’t know if she want to be a comic figure, a super-heroin or a prostitute. The heart on her face looks like a black eye and the artwork, I feel, could’ve been much better. Also, the video is a far-stretch from her past and has nothing to do with the single cover. See it after the jump:
The biggest squid in the world
3
This is a video of the biggest squid caught on earth. It also breaks another record: it is has the biggest eye on the planet. I wonder if we have giant squids here. What would happen if that squid decided to spit ink? It would look like an oil spill.
Ailin’ Palin, Vol. 9: Adele shines even when overshadowed…
While everyone was consumed with the duchess of hate, Sarah Palin, being on Saturday Night Live, they forgot one important thing. Adele was performing that night and she was spectacular.
Solange to work with Armani for tour…
1
Solange is set to embark of a 7-city tour with Alicia Keys over Europe and Armani is doing her wardrobe. I don’t want to hate, but she is the opening act. She didn’t need to design a set and all. They are not there to see her. Although they should, her album is poptastic. Wonder what Beyonce’ll wear for the I Am Tour.
Nikka Costa brings the beat back…
2
Nikka Costa’s music has always had a prevailing element of nostalgia. Not lyrically, but melodically. Her passion lies in frayed funk and vintaged soul. Her third adult offering Pebble To A Pearl is no exception, in fact its a strong reassertion.
Not that she longs for a time when music sounded different, but she follows an if-it-ain’t broke kind of policy. Take, for example, her first single “Stuck To You,” which merges a 60s’ clap-hop with Joplin fervor. Not to mention the vocal back-replies that bring back the split-screen.
