Kuwaiti policewomen face difficulties…

28 10 2008

According to this article, some beardist MP has decided to unleash a tirade of hate on women who want to serve the country as policewomen. The same women who have waited to take that post for years on end, but haven’t been able because of male-supremacist oppression of some figureheads. He opted for them to abide my Islamic law, disregarding the Constitution. I don’t know what that entails? Should policewomen “lower their gaze” when the catch a criminal? Should policewomen be forced to veil themselves even if they are not in their real lives? Should we assume that everyone in this country is of a certain religious belief?

His misogyny went on when he proclaimed (after lots of statistical and scientific studies on gender and sex, of course) that “12 hours is too long for the female conscripts, considering their physical abilities.”

What kind of women does he know and is speaking about? Because I know women that work hard and longer than most men in this country to live in this male-dominated oppressive world. And who decided it was 12 hours not 12 and a half?

What a bunch of nonsensical ranting that is polluting our modern-day political sphere.
