Rolling Stone needs to retire…

mrsYou know, these made up charts really piss me off. Not only because they are always off the mark, but because of how they are compiled. They always tend to be sexist (especially Rolling Stone and Q magazines) and a little on the i-hate-the-music-scene-now beat of things.

I mean, this is a great examples. “100 Greatest Singers of All Time” is the title and they seem to have missed the point. Just because someone has died, it does not make them legends. Janis Joplin died, she had some good tracks, but her catalogue is tiny. She did have a great singing voice, but is she really up there? Amy Winehouse has more sings, she is not even on it.

Another example: John Lennon is in the top 10. We are talking about singing here. He might have been a great song writer, philanthropist, culture icon and the list goes on. But he is definitely not one of the greatest singers ever. As I was reading the list, I was wondering if I was on an obituary. That’s the problem with rock mags these days, they stick with the past. Evolve, already…

So, the Voice. The great MC is at #79. And Christina is #58. Really? Have they gone out of their minds? That is just laugh out loud funny because that’s like saying that Jennifer Lopez is a better dancer than Janet Jackson. It isn’t, it never was, it never will be.

And Paul Rodgers is better than both. What? All right now, let’s not get crazy.
