No year was as prominent as this year when it comes to Earth Hour. We did the usual and shut the lights of in unity with the environment, even though I am ever so skeptical about the whole thing. I feel like its more symbolism than anything pertinent to the issue of global warming. I mean, if a couple of tree huggers shut the lights off (which is a miniscule part of the whole house’s energy) nothing will really happen. There are other methods to energy conservation, like taxing energy higher and uses the taxes for the betterment of the environment, but, of course, talking like this will raise the socialism flag and that doesn’t sit well with the suits. In any case, I look forward to the statistics this Earth Hour will bring forth.

I think they are trying to move the companies involved in the energy and electricity industry into thinking more green since people are being more conscious about it. The hour less of electricity to an individual means an hour less of revenues to these companies. I think it is a wake up call forcing them giants to act.
