for some sordid reason, I believed that Obama had promised during his campaign trail that he would never wage war and promote a friendlier US. This news of a flood of soldier heading to Kabul to finish off the massacre that Bush has unfolded in front of all humanity comes as a sad surprise to me. Maybe I pictured Obama as a Gandi-esque figure with strong convictions. Or maybe, I am jumping the wagon about the intentions behind the new troop surge. All-in-all, I hope they all abide by the Geneva Convention and use their presence their for the good of the Afghani and not for some American billionaire with dollars in his eye to profit. I have a feeling he won’t let us down. PS, the word “Obama” is still considered a misspelling in wordpress spellcheck. Get with the program.
Little girl does LeToya Luckett
1Great song that I couldn’t cram in the last compilation because it was too sombre in comparison. The little girl is all kinds of adorable. This is dedicated to my friend Suallu.
Madonna’s adoption bid turned down by Malawian court
1
Yes, it has happened. A Malawian court decided that Madonna can not and will not adopt the child even though she is pumping millions into the country. Ah, the victory. Maybe she should adopt a psychoanalyst to fix herself. I feel bad for Mercy because I feel she could have had a better life. Here’s more:
Lindsay Lohan does “Womanizer” with Lily Allen
2Her version of the song is bleak and the song is not that good to begin with. I wonder how they know each other. Maybe it’s the Lily Allen-Mark Ronson-Samantha-Lindsay connection path.
Don’t Quote Me, Vol. 191
2“…the most influential journeys I have had have been with Ayahuasca, the vine from the Amazon, the combination of that and mushrooms. They give me the trots and such! It’s very much a medicine woman, medicine man’s journey drug, where you go inside. It’s not a social thing. It’s an internal experience. I experiment with things that are usually an internal experience, because that’s just what excites me. And yes, it does sometimes give me visions. But my intention when I am doing it is very different than recreational. I don’t do it recreationally. I do it to go do inner work, and I’m very clear before I do it what I’m searching for. That way, there’s no abuse suffered and I don’t rely on it. It’s just one more tool that I use sometimes.” – Tori Amos

Iowa legalizes same-sex marriage
4
What a great day for the civil rights movements when a square state like Iowa legalizes gay marriage with a unanimous Supreme Court decision. Pioneering the way for the midwest and attaining this human right before states like New York and Maine. Of course it’s mainly corn crops there, but still it’s a state that will light up blue and free on charts. Hopefully, this will be a trend that runs across the united states although i think it should be a federal decision. In any case, today’s for Iowa.
What is Twitter?

I am addicted to this networking site. It’s less cluttered than Facebook and has juicier gossip. Try it out it’s easy.
Rihanna beating portrayed as art
Other than the fact that the whole Andy Warhol thing has been done too many times and has to be put to rest, I don’t find this portrait that offensive and that’s a statement coming from an über-feminist like me. It is more like a testament of the times, a reminder of how far the liberation movement has come and how far it has yet to go. Or just another great conversational piece, to say the least.
Conservatives are charlatans…
When will Bill O’Rielly just crawl under a rock and leave all of us alone. I like seeing him grilled everytime he is on David Letterman’s show, but it seems like David decided to go a little lenient on him. What does he mean “give Bush a break?” Break from what? The massacres he caused, the economic crisis he started or the complete disregard of human rights and civil liberties. The conservatives, be it in the US or anywhere else, need to hibrenate and let the people through.
In case you want to kill someone and comb your hair at the same time…
1Ani DiFranco does National Geographic

If everyone on this earth was a replica of Ani DiFranco this would be the greatest place to be.
The song’s titled “Smiling Underneath” from the ever-growing Red Letter Year.
Jewel goes ahead with Lullaby album
She really did it. She compiled a 11 lullabies herself and added 4 nursery rhyme classics and made an album titled Lullaby. That’s not the only thing: Now that she is an independent artist she could do whatever she wants to with her music. So, she opts for a deal with Fisher-Price! Yes, that is why the logo is staring at you on the album cover. Fisher-Price like Pixter, View-Master and Barney. It’s a subsidiary of Mattel. And just to piss you off a little more the album cover looks like this and this combined. It will probably be a horrid excuse for an album, but, I will still get it.
Astounding: “Connections” by Sonya Renee

This little poem here that Anya, my friend referred me to, just had my glued to the screen. What a powerful little piece of poetry!

La Roux gate crashes party in Paris
This is the first time I see La Roux out of a music video and in interview/chatter mode. The live performance sounds good and the closing credits song sounds absolutely fabulous. I hope it’s on the album. My gaydar went off a bit. What do you think?
Video: “Welcome To England” by Tori Amos
Tori Amos is one of my favorite artists of all time. The magic in her music surpasses many parallels in the music industry and earth in general. Yes, she is that good. Her new album Abnormally Attracted To Sin is set to debut May 18, 2009 right before I take a huge road trio from DC to New Orleans. i am very thankful for that as every Tori album to me is journey on its own. From start to finish, surely she won’t disappoint. And judging from this first single, it’s going to be a stunner. Don’t frown at the video, she just went independent – focus on the tune. The video is only available on Yahoo and I couldn’t wait for it to make the YouTube rounds to get it to you. Check it!

1Design: A bicycle that folds…
1“Designed by Renato Gschwend the IziBi Folding Bicycle is built with a single front and rear suspension. The front of the bike slides into the back half which then can be unlatched and folded. The frame is constructed with a carbon fiber reinforced polymer and the drive system of aluminum.”
Video: “Can’t Have It All” by Jay Brannan
I still can’t get over Jay Brannan from one of the best movies I have watched my entire life titled Shortbus. I have followed his folk career every now and then and this is his latest.
