Song Of The Month: “Untouchable” by Girls Aloud

At first listen of Girls Aloud Out Of Control album, the track doesn’t get ones attention. It just sits there between stronger tracks that sound more like video-worthy singles. Then as the pop grace of the other tracks wears off, this one rises. I can honestly say that “Untouchable” is not one on the best singles of the year but also a song that will go down in Girls Aloud’s history as the one that finally got them great critical acclaim outside of the pop-sphere.

With its lush electronica sounds and it’s ballad-esque lyrical appeal, it stands as a formula for success much like Everything But The Girl’s “Missing.” I can why Popjustic didn’t wanted to be edited into a radio edit for the single. Because the entire song is a masterpiece and any compromise would take away from the original appeal. But, the song was too long for radio. However, I made sure to include the full version on this month’s compilation even if it meant kicking one track off. If you haven’t heard it yet, get it or watch the video. If I know anything about pop, it’ll be #1.
