Alesha Dixon releases different single in France
It’s called “Colours Of The Rainbow” and it’s from The Alesha Show. Still, not the best she can do. “Don’t Ever Let Me Go” is her best track but she might be keeping it for the last single. Who knows? It may never see the proverbial light of day. This one’s for France and some parts of Europe instead of “Let’s Get Excited.” Both of which are really just pop blather. The cover’s fierce, though.

1Facebook-active students have lower GPA’s
2There’s a study that came out in Ohio that concludes that college students who are active on facebook have overall lower grades and GPA’s. Anyone could’ve told them that. That shiz iz addictive. I bet people who are on Twitter have even lower grades. And the people on MySpace have the highest grades. And the people on Hi5, well, they don’t have grades at all because they don’t go to school.

Did she growl? That wasn’t good at all. Maybe because it was acapella.

Jad Choueiri thinks Arabs are “funky”
30OK, aside from the fact that the song is so horrid and has a completely outdated beat and appalling lyrics, this video is all types of wrong. It’s a vile misrepresentation of the “liberal” Arabs, firstly. Secondly, it’s a complete contradiction to what he thinks he is trying to say. I don’t now where he gets off portraying liberalism as a big club orgy of Botox-pumping, hookah smokers who love themselves some “party boosters.” Granted all these things can be fun occasionally, but it’s a far cry from a quality portrayal.
Anyway, from a musical perspective, if he thinks this track will break him into a Western market then he’s in for a surprise. The song is utter crap. The beats are tired and done. The lyrics are complete blather and the “message” in them would even make India Arie cringe. It’s just too two-thousand-and-late.
Also, notice the “Louise Ciccone” tattoo. Oh, he likes Madonna! How scandalous and original. The only authentic thing in this video is his pronunciation of “bombers.” If he wants controversy he should just come out.
One more tip to Jad: the word “funky” has been uncool for a decade and a half now. It just means “bad smell” these days.

New Toni Braxton song…
This is dedicated to… Finally, some new tracks from the album. She sounds good and it’s a return to balladry, which is what she does well. It’s sultry and smooth and it’s called “Heart Never Had A Hero” and it should be on Pulse.
Stop over-populating
1BBC Broadcaster and world-renowned naturalist has joined Optimum Population Trust, which addresses the “taboo” subject of over-population. He said that human numbers are “frightening” and they should be curbed in order to maintain the natural state of the earth and the struggling wildlife. I don’t understand why it’s a “taboo” subject as the BBC is reporting. It’s plain and simple, stop thinking you own this earth and start breeding less. Nothing more, nothing less. In any case, wildlife aside, i don’t get why anyone would want to bring children into this world without securing a great standard of living for them.

Björk’s four CD-set commemorating the greatness of her most recent album, or whatever it is, is out now. It contains one live CD, one live DVD, one DVD of all the music videos from Volta and a remix CD. Voltaic is yet another on of those packages that don’t really offer anything new but the packaging is fabulous.
