I love has-been culture. I found this very useful.

Beverley Knight goes independent
No word on whether she left at her own accord or if she was dropped. Something tells me it’s the latter, because Music City Soul didn’t do so well, even if it was a scrumptious album. In any case, she is back with her very own Hurricane Records. She’s working with the Rurals, Guy Chambers and the one and only Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, so there should be some gems on there. If you sign up on her website you can get a demo of a song titled “Money Back.” Whatever she has to offer, I am sure it is going to be up to par. From the sound of it “Money Back” is a return to a more contemporary beat like Who I Am but with a grown-up laid-back soul saunter.
Penis pictures on VV Brown’s album
On Twitter, VV Brown has announced that she is planning to put pictures of penises on her cover art. I thought the cover art that was featured earlier was it. But, apparently it’s too bland. What she twittered: “ive decided im gonna do a polaroid diary, this is mad, some of my pics are bloody iconic! my put inside album artwork! espec 1″s of penis’.” I can’t wait for Traveling Like The Light
Video: “Cartoons And Forever Plans” by Maria Taylor
2
This is a nice little video featuring Nettwerk artist Maria Taylor. The backing vocalist is none other than Michael Stipe from R.E.M. Also, the press release states that Soko makes an appearance, but I don’t know how or where. In any case. The song is a quaint little ditty from her album LadyLuck.
Did Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson split?
4
Reports are surfacing that Samantha Ronson and Lindsay Lohan have allegedly split. I guess Lindsay’s lesbian stint is over. Apparently, Lindsay Lohan tried to enter a club where Ronson was DJing and the guards would not let her in. This was a request from Samantha Ronson. So, Ronson dumped her I am guessing. Or was she trying to reconcile. I have no clue. Now Lindsay releases a statement that they broke up. She must want her revenge or something. Love is suffering. I don’t know how Lohan will be as hetero again. Boring, maybe.

Song Of The Month: “Untouchable” by Girls Aloud
1At first listen of Girls Aloud Out Of Control album, the track doesn’t get ones attention. It just sits there between stronger tracks that sound more like video-worthy singles. Then as the pop grace of the other tracks wears off, this one rises. I can honestly say that “Untouchable” is not one on the best singles of the year but also a song that will go down in Girls Aloud’s history as the one that finally got them great critical acclaim outside of the pop-sphere.
Legendary: This is Kuwaiterrific
5This is عتاب في الفضاء and it is the most fabulous thing I have seen in a while. This was on KTV1 and it’s hella cool. Bring this Kuwait back! Disco is king and everyone enjoyed a good time. And, the space dance is just ferosh.
Sleeve: Mandy Moore as Amanda Leigh
It looks like a Celine Dion album and I don’t know if it fits her new “organic” direction. But, it’s timeless and well-put-together. Amanda Leigh is the title and it’s her real name. The first single off of it is “I Could Break Your Heart Any Day Of The Week.” It’s her sixth album. Yes, sixth. The music video for the lead single is currently being filmed and I have to say, I liked Wild Hope and I am looking forward to this.

Ciara’s real album cover for Fantasy Ride
3
For a while the blogosphere had believed that this horrid little pic was Ciara’s album cover for the long-time-coming Fantasy Ride. But, it turns out that she is going with this comic book thing for real. And even if it still verges on crap, it’s still better than the other one. This one reminds me of George Michael’s video for “FREEEK!” She probably hasn’t seen it. This cover will be cringe-worthy for her in the future, if she gets past this album with another hit that doesn’t involve Justin Timberlake.
Video: “Baby, I’m A Fool” by Melody Gardot
5Melody Gardot has been on heavy rotation on my iPod for a couple of days now. I was first introduced to her when i read her compelling story and when I heard her music, I knew I was going to like her. Gardot was struck my a car while on her bicycle when she was only 19. the injury resulted in cognitive impairment. Her doctors suggested she take up music in order to repair the damages in her cognitive thinking as it has been scientifically proven that it has healing abilities. The result is her moody debut album Worrisome Heart, which boasted a great eponymous single. Now, Gardot has released a second album titled My One And Only Thrill, which this track comes from. The effort is a well-rounded and robust offering of contemporary jazz. It’s good from start to end.
Fashion: Graz for Chronicle of Never Sunglasses

The plain black and the square shape are both features that make me want to get this piece of art. The frame is carefully crafted to be trendy but not overwhelmingly flashy. You can get it here.
This will put a smile on your face…

The world should be like this everyday. The belgians have done their own version of the T-Mobile flash mob dance in a train station and its spectacular. I love the breakdown. If I had a country, I’d replace the army with a huge flashmob.
Introducing… The Whitest Boy Alive
1It seems that the chillout genre that has been gracing record shop stands in the form of myriads of compilations has died down. But, some of its pioneers are still hard at work on other projects that are set to titillate us into an new era of smooth sounds. Erlend Øye , of solo and Kings Of Convenience fame, has unleashed his latest effort with his project The Whitest Boy Alive. It’s a sultry summer record with elements of big band, ska and the thing he is known for - chillout. The album, titled Rules, is truly a marvel with songs ranging for the beach-terrific “1517″ to the deeper “Courage.” Watch out for this band. I will keep you posted if any videos come out.
