The album finally got a release date from Arista Records officials. It’s slated for a September 1, 2009 release. No word on the title yet, but the one that has been floating around is Undefeated. But, wikipedia is now reporting that it will be called The Wait Is Over. The latter is a bit boring. The first single is called “I Didn’t Know My Own Strength” and that sounds just like the perseverance ditty that she needs. It’s weird that it’s also coming out around the same time as Mariah Carey’s Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel. Can’t wait!
Fishing in an artificial lake
What a great idea for conservationists who enjoy fishing but don’t want to mess up the food chain in the oceans, rivers or lakes. Catch a fabulous fish that was bred by humans, take a picture in the land of smiles and then return it. Next time I do the Bangkok, I will do that.
Jack Peñate brings on the new
1Little-known punk folkster and Adele’s best friend Jack Peñate is back with his sophomore album. This time around, there’s less scream more melancholy, less edge, more curve. The 9-track album is filled with the tracks that should be on their unlike Matineé, which dragged on a bit. The album is surprisingly lush with instrumentation and the shaky ska is no longer there. Everything Is New is smoother without being mundane. The highlight tracks are “Tonight’s Today,” “Let’s All Die” and “Give Yourself Away.”

New iPhone coming next week
The gadget rumor-mill is filled with news of a new iPhone that will be launching sometime next week. The phone will allegedlly have a sleeker look, 32 gb storage, video camera, enhanced camera, more apps, a greater operating speed, a compass and will go for lower that $199. I don’t know how that is possible. But, that’s what they are all saying. Check it here and here.

It almost felt like 10 seconds in real time, too.
Liam Gallagher launches fashion line
1Who would have though that out of all the pop stars out there Liam Gallagher would launch his own fashion line called Pretty Green. And, from the looks of it, it’s not so bad. I mean it looks like the stuff he wears, and that’s not bad if you have a shaggy haircut and a britrock demeanor. Here’s the synopsis from the site:
“Pretty Green is an up-front, straight talking, classic clothing range owned, founded and designed by Liam Gallagher. The Pretty Green team is made up of key industry professionals.
The clothing range, which is entirely ‘limited edition’, will include classic designs across footwear, denim, knitwear, jackets, trench coats, parkas, t-shirts, hats, scarves and accessories; all subject to Liam’s final approval.

Barack does Cairo
So, I stayed up ’til 6 am to watch Obama’s speech on live stream through YouTube and I must say it was worth it. Maybe, he came of as too catering to the expectations of the region and, maybe, he gave the conservatives in the US enough material to taunt him for the rest of his incumbency. But, to make recollection, there has never been a US President so humble, understanding and keen on helping the world as he is. It could be just propaganda, but that rhetoric is truly new territory for a President of the US and its foreign policy. He did his research and he looked as confident and direct as ever. It’s nice to have that after 8 years of buffoonery.
Legendary: Leigh Bowery does chaise-longue
Another masterpiece that I randomly found when I thought i had seen them all. For those of you who don’t know. Know.
En Vogue have reunited
The funky divas of the 90s’ – En Vogue – are back together. This is the newest promo photo for their new venture. No more three-legged neosoul, or bitch-slap servings from Dawn Robinson. The foursome, as we have come to know them and love them, are back and even a Terry Ellis album can’t break them apart. They are doing some obscure festival dates to test their selves out and then pacing an album together. The still look sexual and healthy and weave-y. I can’t wait for their comeback. Now, we have to wait for For Real and Zhané (pronounced Ja-Nay).

2The sad all sods are trying everything to capture the younger market, I know the baby boomers Martha and Wendy don’t like this too much. And francly, after the cherry and multi-color prints. Nothing can rescue them but some sort of urban modern resurgence. I know they have great leather, but so does Tod’s. This looks good, might I add. But, the shit inside is still the same old crapola. So, what’s the diff?
Video: “Nothing But A Miracle” by Diane Birch
2Diane Birch’s album Bible Belt is on heavy-rotation at the Loft965.com office (whatever couch I am crashing on). It’s pure Motown slick and has quite the right amount of yule instrumentation without being a christian or christmasy. This is one of the best tracks on their, but the album is really all a treat. And there’s a song on their about a lost soulmate named “Ariel.” I mean, how biographical is that?
