Seriously? It was only a matter of time. I don’t even watch American Idol and I could tell from the pics throughout the web. That’s why he didn’t when. Had he done a wholesome Garth Brooks number instead of a Queen cover he probably would have won over middle America, which is really voting America. Instead cookie-cutter Kris Allen won with his banality. In any case, had he come out during the whole Prop 8 debacle it would have been a better time. But, I guess you got to make money somehow. Actually, it was quite evident that he was gay from the beginning. A blind person can tell. However, his decision not to “officially” come out, even though pictures have surfaced on the internet, was because he wanted to win based on talent rather than sexual orientation. If he had come out earlier amidst the intense competition, I believe he wouldn’t have stood a chance because albeit the open-minded communities in America, the country is still filled with conservative people. For example, when the pics were traded online, a campaign against Adam was launched stating, “Do you want a GAY idol?”
Personally, I would’ve loved for him to win instead of your average Kris Allen.
No my friend, the reason he came out now is because he knew he had the talent to carry him right to the end of the show, where people are a lot more willing to pay big $$ for headlines! It was so obvious to any passing insect that he was as bent as a 2 bob note just by looking at him without hearing him speak and his mannerisms. Think about it, the papz aren’t gonna pay a pittance to anyone on AI for a story when there’s still 10 left in the competition coz most pf them get long forgotten about but get a finalists and that’s hot water. Adam just shamelessly waited it out so he could sell to the highest bidder. That’s what the cynic in me says anyway. He has no problems at all with his sexuality, not even in the slightest but see the oppurtanity as one of those money grabbing ”so & so comes out” headlines
