America apologizes for slavery

4

Yes, this is for real everyone. The U.S. Senate just passed an actual apology for slavery. The statement is that the United States of America “acknowledges the fundamental injustice, cruelty, brutality and inhumanity of slavery, and Jim Crow laws.”

Oh, really? Now! That’s good to know. Maybe, The Autobiography Of Miss Jane Pittman was on HBO or something. This should have been issued decades ago. Actually, not just issued but delivered by a president and then made a national mourning day for all the people that watched their family members die because they picked up a book. Horrid.

World’s most expensive SUV

1

spyker-suv-00Rarely, a topic of ours, but it’s worth a mention. Cars are good as long they get your somewhere and that’s it for me really. Oh, and an iPod jack is a necessity. A simple queer necessity. Anyway, this car is different and even if it looks like a small car, it is an SUV. It’s worth $300,000 and is quite possibly the world’s most expensive SUV unless you encrust yours with swarovski crystals or whatever the kids are doing these days to play pimp. Anyway, here’s an excerpt to better describe it:

The album wars: Mariah Carey vs. Whitney Houston

20

carey-mariah-photo-xxl-mariah-carey-and-whitney-houston-6221221

As I have explained before, for a Mariah Carey album to get push for earlier release is quiet rare. In fact, it has never happened before in the artist’s history. When all anticipation was directed at the last quarter of the year for the album to drop. Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel got a very early August 25th date with the single being rushed to radio now. Many speculated that that was due to Mariah wanting to qualify for this year’s award season.

But, now I think that we have the real reason. Mariah’s album, being a sure-fire number one debut, decided not to overshadow her long-time pal Whitney Houston. Whitney Houston’s tentatively titled either Undefeated or I Didn’t Know My Own Strength, which is also the titled of the first single, will drop officially a week after Mariah’s album on September 1st.

For Iran, the struggle continues

1

lk0618d5

The Iranians are now in the streets chanting “Death to Khamenei!” It’s definitely a liberal front. They want to remove the whole system and its oppression. Things haven’t been going the right way for the people and this is a natural reaction. Now that it’s evident to the world that the figureheads of Iran rigged the election, it’s going to be hard for them to maintain power in this tumultuous environment. Also the videos of death and violence will give people more fuel to defy this government.

Must-Watch: Video: “Fuck You” by Lily Allen

Great song and great fun of a video. It’s inspired by the iPhone, apparently. Although the song is about George Bush, it still works for everything that makes one angry. The picture in the polaroid is the same as her picture on Twitter. The next single was slated to be “22″ but this is replacing it now. I didn’t think they’d release it because it wont get played on radio. Maybe radio is not that important anymore.

Mýa to release album stateside

M_a_Sugar_Spice_The_Perfect_Edition_Official_Album_Cover_

The album’s been released in Japan to moderate success and it contained a hot song “Paradise.” Now it’s being revamped for a stateside (and European, guessing). Sugar & Spice wasn’t good at all, so I wonder what this edition, no matter how “perfect” it is, will bring to the table, especially rumors of a 6th album are floating around the blogosphere.

Legendary: The Sound Of Silence

Slow day for videos and I am not about to leave you with absolutely nothing for today and tomorrow because I am going on a grand trip to Ogunquit, Maine and I am not sure if i will blog from there. However, Simon and Garfunkel are my soundtrack for the trip as I have downloaded their entire collection, which is much smaller than I thought. Their sound paved they way for many bands across the rock and pop sphere. This is why we have bands like Air, Zero 7 (above post) and Husky Rescue.

How does David Blaine do it?

David-Blaine

All this talk of his tricks being revealed and I could not care less because: number one, he is Fiona Apple’s ex boyfriend and she wrote the monumental song “Limp” about him. Two, he is just eye candy all the way. Here’s the brief:

Twitter is the new revolution

coletoon_-__twitter_5

I have been online for 15 years now and I had never seen anything like it. Twitter is really a big part of the Iranian revolution. Ever body is getting it and getting on #iranelection to voice their opinion or to retweet someone else’s. So much so that it has been blocked in Iran by the Ayatollah’s peeps and people on it are being detained. They never saw it coming. But, the revolution will not be televised, but it will be twitterized. Join in.
