To keep up with the festivities of the summer season we decided to dodge depth and melancholy in favor of sun beats and lush pop. yes, it’s another beach mix filled with pop marvels that are bound to make you dance and strut and do the nasty. Not one track on this compilation is slow, not even towards the end. SlinkyPop is exactly what the name refers to. It’s playful and poppy like the seed. 21 tracks of fun. We hope you like it as it has been playing non-stop at Loft965 headquarters (the chalet hammock).
Elisabeth Hasselbeck might have a brain
2She barely scratch the surface of the surface of progressive thinking. But, at least she is not protecting anything republican and conservative these days. She admitted her dislike for Ann Coulter, who I hate so much that I am starting to like her. Now, she is taking a stand against the “lying sack of dog crap” shit-starter Glen Beck, who this half-white Obama is racist against “white culture.” What the hell is white culture? That’s Nazi-speak to me. I mean, that’s verging on some Ku Klux Klan bullshit.
Don’t Quote Me, Vol. 227
1Exclusive: Video: “She Wolf” by Shakira
3We managed to catch it the second it came out and here it is. The Shakira single that has gotten so many mixed reviews you have to hear it for yourself. We like anything disco here at Loft965, so it’s OK with us even if she howls like a wolf. Some say the Spanish version “Loba” is better. But, I’d rather understand what she is saying with the defective voice of hers. Our friends hate it muchly but we couldn’t help but feature it on our next compilation. We hope the album has better tunes. They say it’s “electronic.”
Dolores O’Riordan carries on solo with No Baggage
No news of a Cranberries reunion, so we get this. The second offering from the front women of a band that shaped rock music in an unforgiving decade – the 90s’. Frankly, this should have been her debut album. The songs are better structured and very well put together. Now, I am not saying it’s a great album, but it’s definitely better than the miserable Are You Listening? The instrumentation on the single is very lush and her accent is always a great touch. The jury is out on whether this I’ll make it. Because, right now, it’s make or break for her.
Video: “Be The One” by Jack Peñate
1Everything Is New is truly a surprise for 2009. A big rock-pop ballast of a record that continues to impress with every spin. No studio tweekings and no solid genre, just good old fusion of lush instrumentation and exceptional lyrics. Plus, his voice is not so bad either. Jack Penate should end up on many year-end charts.

Kings Of Convenience vacation while recording
1It’s been 5 years since the Kings Of Convenience’s last album. Still, they are taking their sweet time recording the music and traveling all over to get inspiration and to test out the music. This time they are at the volcanic islands of the Azores amidst the Atlantic Ocean sending us their regards. The first single is going to be “Mrs. Cold” and it should rear its head sometime soon. Usually after the album title is unveiled.
Exclusive: Video: “Serpentine” by Peaches
This is the third single from the album and, so far, the single choices have been impeccable. Plus, the low-budget videos really do suffice when it comes to Peaches. I Feel Cream is not the easiest album to listen to, but, it is her best to date.
Don’t Quote Me, Vol. 226
Video: “Boys And Girls” by Pixie Lott
5I have to say that she is really growing on me. The debut single, which shock up the UK charts and made the hype strewn upon Little Boots seem like fodder, wasn’t packing heat for us. But, this second single sounds like what the Sugababes should have done for Catfights & Spotlights. Her album is coming out soon and it is titled Turn It Up.
Marc Jacobs designs pro-gay rights t-shirts
4
In the quest for equality and human rights, the newly-married Marc Jacobs has released a series of t-shirt that demand equal rights for marriage. Good point, why should gay people be taxed if they can’t live equal lives and can’t get their right to pursuit of happiness, which the US constitution cites explicitly.
These t-shirts cost $24. The proceeds will go directly to the Human Rights Campaign. They will be available in all Marc by Marc Jacobs stores hopefully around the world.

Kuwait borders Egypt, according to Fox News
6Fox News is not the source to go to for impartial and objective news, but this is just absurd. Conservatives have gone out of their minds (if they have any) and completely disregarded georgraphical facts in one of their recent broadcasts. But, in reality, the average Fox News viewer does not know any better and wants the whole area bombed. They couldn’t care less about the Middle East. Everything is “Yay! USA!” Blind patriotism they call it. It happens everywhere in the world. This is a generalization, but conservatives always tend to be the poorly informed and uneducated people, which leads to prejudice and bigotry and, ultimately, hatred (or they could be informed and educated but evil and greedy). No wonder Fox News caters to the homophobic, racist, sexist gun-owners in the US. This above image is not a slip up, but more a slip into their minds.
Must-Watch: Video: “I’m Not Sorry” by thecocknbullkid
Great tune, needs a bit of mastering but it’s very promising. Plus, she’s from Ghana! Visit her myspace page. Thanks, magic Maj.
Sliimy signs to Perez Hilton’s record label
1Back when we introduced him we thought he was a French pop star with a some talent. Now, Sliimy broke that mold and is the first artist officially signed to Perezcious Records. If Perez is releasing his album Paint Your Face in the US, it won’t work out. It’s just not cut out for that market. It might fair well in some niche markets like the hispter demographic and the gay community, but that’s about it. He doesn’t have enough good songs to carry it (Check this and this).

Yet another peak for Loft965.com
2
Ever since we got around 34,000 visitors about a month ago our daily unique visitors have tripled. Today, we got to another peak mainly due to the rumor that Amy Winehouse has passed away but also Mariah’s second single deserves a mention. This time around we managed to knock up our third busiest day ever and we are still going. So, we can’t fully report the number until midnight. Also, we got to the third most read post on WordPress (above). It seems that people still use the bookmark button. Thanks everyone, yet again.
Joan Rivers goes crazy on set
1Joan Rivers is serving up some divatude in this clip like there’s no tomorrow. It would be great if it was real, but it is too well-produced and well-lit to be the real deal. it’s probably a viral video to promote her new show. I didn’t know biting was realness these days.
