I have been hesitant to report on MIKA latest effort because I felt like the song was all kinds of wonderful turd. There’s just too much going on and the chorus doesn’t sync well. Also, it brings back the memory of the Go-Go’s. Now, as I listen to a the song with the a friend he pointed out the similarity between “We Are Golden” and “Heaven Is A Place On Earth” by Belinda Carslile. The chorus sounds melodically exact and there is no writing credit on the song. It sounds too close for comfort. And, he has a sampling history. By “sampling,” I mean taking the whole song and it’s melody then changing the lyrics around and making it his. He did it with “Relax (Take It Easy)” and totally mangled Cutting Crew’s “(I Just) Died In Your Arms.” All-in-all, I’d be surprised if We Are Golden survived the sophomore slump. Is Amy Winehouse dead?
68There is a rumor circulating around the internets that Amy Winehouse is dead. This is growing now and is on Twitter. But, I dared to delve further because I don’t know if I will be able to take it. Anyway, it turns out that some newspaper in the UK is running a story about how Amy Winehouse almost died in Blakc’s arms after some sort of overdose. The headlines was “Amy Winehouse Died In My Arms,” which is what is leading the widespread rumors around twitter and the world. So, she is not dead, apparently. In other news, Amy Winehouse’s father is releasing an album! Yeah, I know! Still, I am getting it. Anyway, chill she’s not dead!

Noah gives Loft965.com a shout-out
2Noah has given Loft965.com a shout-out on his twitter account. We were really hyped about his album Human Geometry and his single “Mannequin” stayed at #1 for 3 weeks on our chart, which is the longest hold on the top spot as of now. We hope to see a video real soon for it because it deserves one. Here it is:
Video: “Already Gone” by Kelly Clarkson
Not a big fan of her last 2 albums – My December and All I Ever Wanted. This video is prime example of why. Since “Since U Been Gone” she’s been trying to follow the same template of that former victory. Whether it be a slow ditty or an all-out rock song. It just doesn’t work and she has to meander into different genres or templates, maybe, to have a hit as solid as that one. She has managed to create a new genre of bubblegum rock and it just doesn’t mesh well.
How many years has it been since humans visited the moon?
140. Yes, 4 decades ago a human set foot on another body in space (that we know of). For some reason people find this a point of celebration. I have always been interested in our planet’s sphere. I am also interest in mapping the ocean floors since the human has only visited 2% of the ocean floor. We really have no clue what’s down there. My thing is, why go colonize and explore other planets when there is so much shit going on here that needs fixing? Why don’t we just work on what we have instead of going out on a limb and visiting outer space and, in the long run, destroying it like we did to our planet? I am not a rocket scientist and there might be great reasons for this voyage, but I feel like it’s another way the big suits can tap into a new territory to exploit it and its resources.

A new take on the ping pong table
2James Perse has taken up re-inventing the ping pong table. All colors get a revamping and everything turns fashionably black. No green board or rubbery-red pads. The new limited edition table tennis marvel is the re-invention of the Los Angels-based fashion designer and is available for a short period of time on his website.
Diane Birch covers Haddaway’s “What Is Love?”
She really turned the early 90s’ dance floor stomper into a deep and eloquent ballad. If you ask me, it should have been on the album, but I hear it’s on the set list on her live shows. She is really growing on me. Bible Belt is one of the best albums of the year. It’s vintage without trying to hard, soulful but without overproduction or vinyl scratches for authenticity, a la Christina Aguilera.
files “touch-and-go” USB patent
Apple has filed a patent that might be USB for a new and exciting product upcoming sometime soon. It’s a patent that the mac corporation can use for it’s USB devices. It’s a new technology where a USB portable hard drive can detect or a touch or a would-be touch before the user pulls out the the device from the computer to avoid file corruption. It might also be used for other things, perhaps a USB thermometer? Source.
