What a year it has been for La Roux. The duo that everyone mistakes for Elly Jackson, but, in reality, includes Ben Langmaid, who is behind the scenes but half of it. Out of all the bands pitted to take over 2009, La Roux wins the proverbial cup. When I first was introduced to them I thought the band was too concept-driven and stuck in a different time to penetrate this Rihanna market. But, it turns out La Roux had some solid hits hidden behind “Quicksand.” Both other singles were stronger: “In For The Kill” and “Bulletproof.” Other tracks that titillate on the debut album are “I’m Not Your Toy” and “As If By Magic.” Also, it is important to note that they’re other strong feature is their visual conceptualizing. Their videos are some of the best we’ve seen this year.
It’s La Roux’s year…
