“Music is what feelings sound like”

No one does camp like RuPaul. It’s a great track to remix from her second mainstream album Foxy Lady. The video is all kinds of 90s’ tacky, but the queens know it and they are playing it to the max. Also, if you look you will find a pre-op Candis Cayne.
This cover of Beverley Knight’s 100% brings chills because we are very ecstatic about the release of any new material from the most soulful artist this side of the Atlantic. As with every Knight album, the real gems will be hidden and the singles will try to break the British market, which has no tolerance for urban music. She’s newly indie and that gives her more of a leeway with what’s on the album. That’s always good for an artist’s growth.
NSFW.
About to embark on a weekend getaway to Mykonos for some good old annual fun and will be back shortly. Depending on the internet situation and the eventfulness, we might slow down a little bit. But, we promise at least a couple daily posts since we saved some for emergency. Anyway, keep the feedback coming.
“Heavy Cross” is on the charts and it’s on banger of a song. This one has the potential to do the same.
Finally, some news from the Robbie Williams camp. He is finishing up an album titled Reality Killed The Radio Star which is slated for an October release. This will be preceded by a singles titled “Bodies.” The rumors that he’d join Take That again scared me as his brand of britpop is like no other and completely surpasses that M.O.R. / Adult Contemporary bull crap they now do. Good to here from him and let’s hope the whole album is as good as all his previous efforts.
We just gave the album a spin or two in the car because we owe him that much and “Bad Habit” arose like a star. And now we just got a ping that it just debuted on YouTube. Lucky!
We have adamantly stuck to RuPaul’s Drag Race. It’s better than any other reality show out there right now and it’s available on iTunes. I am not surprised it got offered another season (or cycle) deal. It’s high drama, high octane and high heels.
Tammie Brown was on the show for 2 episodes but she shine bright. She had all kinds of vintage clothing and a unique sense of make-up application. Not to forget, her great sense of history. In fact, she was the only queen on there that paid some attention to the past. Ongina and Nina Flowers did the future and Bebe Zahara Benet did the present. Oh, wait Shannel did the near past but it was just all kinds of tacky. Anyway, it’s great show, watch it if you can get ahold of it.
We are hungry for anything Girls Aloud. Even if it’s live versions of their hits.
Us Janet Jackson fans awoke today to a great surprise. The star’s often-stagnant site has gotten a complete revamp. Not only that, but there has been news that Ms. Jackson is going to release an album early 2010. That’s close, especially considering the fact that she has been hard at work doing the sequel to Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married and her brother untimely death. She must be hard at work following her split with Jermaine Dupri. We hope her reunion with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis will prove fruitful. Can’t wait!
For those of you who haven’t heard, some conservatives and racists and nazis (all of which happen to be republican, what a coincidence) have started a movement that believes that Obama was not born on the island of Oahu, Hawaii but was actually born in the Southern Coast of Kenya. This belief is rampant in spite of the fact that Obama has presented his birth certificate to the US government and it was approved. They have allegedly forged an English birth certificate from Kenya (no, not in Swahili) that is supposed to be the “real” one. This attorney is trying to defend the movement all the way from Tel Aviv (conspicuous?) with a Russian accent. Apparently, she refused to get into the NBC studio car because the chauffer’s name “sounded Muslim.” What a looney. You know, even if these bigots have some kind of theory that gains some tract along the way, they lose it when everything escalates and their prejudices peak out. Click below to see the birth certificates from both countries. By the way, it’s Obama’s birthday today!

Melanie Fiona has a lot to be proud of. She has released one of the best albums of the year. And, as we finish with the third quarter, it’s looking like a bad year for albums. The Bridge fuses everything good with everything happening right now. “Monday Morning” has been only heavy rotation with us. She’s under the Motown label and is opening for Kanye West on the European leg of his tour. Plus, she is featured on the last Vibe magazine ever. Seems like things are opening up for her.
Our favorite band of 2009 have just released their new single. We like it, but it’s one of those songs with a great chorus but nothing else is worthy. Still, the chorus is very hot. The video is also their best. Now, the next single should be “My Boy Builds Coffins” if they don’t want to release the Candi Staton cover “You Got The Love.”
Nina Persson’s solo project A Camp has fallen hard onto its face twice. Both album A Camp and Colonia were lackluster efforts that are not worth the bargain bin, and I am being nice. This is the latest single, also not the best track from the album like “Here Are The Animals.” It’s not worth it’s video and I am surprised that someone who has peaked at #213 on the UK Albums chart can still sustain a career. Maybe she’s big in Sweden. But, in all seriousness, she should return to the Cardigans and concentrate on that.
On this side of the world and everywhere in the West the design of the original paper clip has remained the same. We have followed a “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” policy to life and indulged in our stagnant state. This, however, is not enough for Japan. It has reinvented the paper and this is it’s last incarnation. They’re sleeker and sexier. I am more likely to read a paper if it came with these.
Wow, the recession’s in full force right now that even the biggest of artists are feeling it. Mariah Carey’s next album Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel will be a different release than what we usually expect from the diva. It is going to come with a CD booklet-sized Elle magazine that comes with the first million pressings in the US and first half million pressings worldwide. Yes, it’s going to include the magazine with advertisements and an intimate interview with MC. It’s no longer product placement when it comes to album or videos, it’s full-on advertising. So far, Angel Champagne and the Bahamas Board Of Tourism bought some of the space and L.A. Reid is looking for more by announcing this.
The trouble with Bat For Lashes albums is that you have to nitpick what’s good and what’s drab. Sometimes one song can contain a great verse with a tepid bridge. Two Suns has managed to win over some hearts, but there are things on there that are just boring acoustica. Still, this one is a good. It’s good that it got the third single treatment because she needs a sales push, she only got to silver and in the UK alone.
