Fresh: Video: “Mrs. Cold” by Kings Of Convenience

We can’t get this song out of heads. Seriously, at this pace it’s looking like it’ll top our chart next week. It’s a lovely little summer folk tunes that makes us want to get another sunburn. They are on the right track and hopefully the rest of the album is in keeping with the island theme. Just pure loveliness.

Due: An apology to Alan Turing

5

Turing_01

Alan Turing is considered the father of computer science. In fact, some will go as far as claiming that he invented the modern-day computer. He revolutionized his science and propelled it to new grounds back when he was allowed. He even got Britain through a war with his genius. But, this respect was not reciprocated.

You see, Alan was gay and he was arrested  for “gross indeceny” – the same law that persecuted Oscar Wilde. He was forced to choose between imprisonment or chemical castration. He chose the latter and after he was shunned and condemned. So, he committed suicide with some cyanide.

Now, the freaks and the geeks have come together to sign a petition to ask for an apology for this horrid and bigoted incident. Sign it here and let it be known that a queen is the reason why you are reading this right now. Go to his Wikipedia page to read more than my synopsis of him.

Whitney Houston is officially back

I Look To You is out now and then 7-year wait is over! Not too sure about all these rave reviews. It’s not that lush, but it has some kind of momentum. Maybe because of the long haitus or it’s a good LP, haven’t decided which one yet. And all these songs are “hit songs?” Not really. None are. “I Look To You” and “I Didn’t Know My Own Strength” are two early leaks.

“Million Dollar Bill” is the single but it has yet to make a wave or two. There’s still no video for it, which is very unusual for a big time artist to have an album out before the first video. Maybe it’ll debut soon to bring in the buzz. At any rate, it’s an Okay album and that’s about it. Maybe the remixes will pull it up. Click below for her Ebony cover and a vintage clip of cheese.

Natalie Imburglia reveals cover, track listing for “Come To Life”

Natalie Imbruglia - Come To Life (Official Album Cover) Thanx to cover-mania

Natalie Imburglia has started the campaign for her fourth album Come To Life. The album cover has been unveiled (above) and as much as we love her we have to say that it looks like a late-90s’ Steps reject of a cover. She could have done better, to say the least.

She has said of the album: “I feel the same creative buzz I felt when I first started my career…It’s just fun and artistic and creative and all the things it should be. There’s still a lot of depth to the songs…It just sounds fresher to me. I’ve tried different things – there’s more electronic stuff in there, and that’s different for me, more dance beats. There’s a freedom overall, and a sense of confidence. It’s slightly less introspective …”

Melanie Fiona pays tribute to Michael Jackson

1

Our favorite new artist of 2009 has gone and done our favorite Michael Jackson song of all-time. “I Can’t Help” has been forgotten in all the commotion after his death. Everyone played “Billie Jean” or “Thriller,” which are monumental tracks, but Michael Jackson doesn’t have staple tracks, all his tracks are great. In any case, this is a great rendition. Melanie Fiona should be big in a couple months’ time!

Destiny’s Child to reunite in 2010

3

Destinys+ChildMichelle Williams has just informed the world that Destiny’s Child are set to reunite for 2010. This is not because Beyonce misses the good old days of pulling Kelly Rowland’s hair out. It’s due to the fact that they are contractually obliged to put out another offering with Sony. There destiny, apparently, was not fulfilled. Beyonce has to slave back to the studio with those two girls and do an album.

Vogue Evolution bend over backwards for Bollywood

Leyomi need not get some attitude right about now. There’s no room for “queeny” right now, missy. It’s time to get the crown for an underrated little-talked-about dance format. Willi Ninja would have slapped you in the face had he been alive to see you throw away such a great opportunity. Saddle up and channel Pepper LaBeija, girl!

Lady GaGa talks fashion, brings the drama!

5

She’s crazy for the sake of crazy. Nonetheless, she is all kinds of fabulousness rolled into one person. Lady GaGa is the last pop star of our time. With the dying of the record industry things will change drastically. The wave of pop that GaGa is ushering in will cross borders and will channel the future instead of the past. She believes in fashion and music and art and what a beautiful combination that is. And she said it: “As long as it’s gay it’s good.”

Massive Attack are back!

The divine beings behind the trip-hop movement that cleaned off the 90s’ are back with anew track and an album. Massive Attack have teased their fans today with a leak of a new track called “Splitting The Atom,” which is quite succulent but to long (7 minutes plus). This is just a taste from their tentatively titled LP5, which is set to land sometime early 2010. Some sources say that it will be titled Weather Underground.

Fresh: Video: “Celebration” by Madonna

12

After a myriad of snippets and previews it’s finally here. The video to the tepid Madonna single created to shift sales for her greatest hits compilation released to rid her of her contractual agreement. It’s presented in a remix format as if the original wasn’t house-y enough. It’s an OK song with regular acrobatic Madonna video. What she’s wearing is fab, but the video looks like outtakes from “Give It 2 Me.”
