This is for all the naysayers that tried to put this single down. After weeks lingering just outside the Billboard Top 10, “Obsessed” broke in at #7 becoming her 27th top 10 single. Yes, she’s now tied with Janet Jackson and Elton John. I always thought it was a great track. Now, watch “I Want To Know What Love Is” get there, too. Side note: where’s “Celebration?”

News around the British pop blogs is that this is the new cover for Cheryl Cole’s rushed debut album Three Words. We don’t think this is the case. Why? Well, because it’s too good and vague to be her album cover. It’s too Lykke Li. Cheryl would do something more commercial and text-heavy. We would be surprised if it was. We can’t decide if this is utterly horrible or campy fun.
Pretty little sleeve for a pretty little songstress. We like the details and the costuming. Also, the Persian carpet is a nice touch. It’s called The Fall but it’s arriving in the winter. No word yet on the first single.
Our favorite Thai export, Tata Young, has an album under her sleeve and it’s ready for releasing. This is the first single and it’s not bad at all. We loved her rendition of “Come Rain, Come Shine” and we hope there are more cover versions on Ready For Love. We hear she covered “My Bloody Valentine.”
Mary Katrantzou has come up with a new idea for her new collection. It’s inspired by the perfume bottle. You can never run out of ideas!

2009 is the year for toriphiles. We get not one, but two studio albums. We still are not off the Abnormally Attracted To Sin binge, in fact yesterday we sat through the entire Tori Amos video collection. And now, we are getting a whole Christmas album by November 10th.
We usually don’t swallow Xmas treats too easily, but we know that Amos will give it her own non-churchie spin. In fact, she is calling it a “winter solstice” album rather than a Christmas album. Strip the songs of their original meaning and give them a newfound darker side like on Strange Little Girls. The album is tentatively titled Midwinter Graces. We already know her version of “Little Drummer Boy” and can’t wait to hear some more tracks on her Dusseldorf Sinful Attraction concert date.
They were standing so still, we knew they were a flashmob. Do the Black Eyed Peas really need any more promotion for their tired old album? She’s opening big, with this and the Whitney Houston exclusive. I wonder what she’s doing for 25th anniversary. did Oprah really have to plug in that phone that bad?
The news is out. Toni Braxton’s next single is not “Heart Never had A Hero” or “Get Loose.” It’s actually a new mainstream radio-friendly ballad titled “Yesterday.” It’s MOR and will fair well with adult contemporary audiences.
