Janet Jackson reveals cover for “Best Of” collection
3So, she changed the name from Number 1′s to The Best, because, as we’ve said before, some of these tracks never saw top spot in their lives. Still, the album cover could have used some boasting and boosting. Cute is out and fierce is in. She should have done something lavish and decadent that honors her long-standing career in the pop world. Like her standing on a very high pedestal and spitting on Ashanti, or something in that sense. But, we get to settle for this re-issue package that’s lackluster in appearance and really doesn’t do anything new to Janet Jackson completists like us.
How to make people use the stairs…
How fun is that? It’s a great idea. For a greener world, at least. But, we could imagine it getting old real fast. If you’ve done it a couple of times, it’s really done then.

Video: “The Pretender” by Datarock
“The Pretender” video was inspired by the classic They Live, directed by John Carpenter in 1988. The main character finds a pair of sunglasses that opens his eyes to reveal that the civilized world isn’t quite what he thought it was. This video was directed by Parralax who also directed the video for their hit “Computer Camp Love”. ”The Pretender” is featured on Datarock’s second album Red.
Madonna on the cover of November’s Rolling Stone magazine
15
Madonna will grace the cover of Rolling Stone magazine yet again this November and it will undoubtedly be an expose on her career to give Celebration another boost. The article is called “Madonna Looks Back” and the cover is of her actually looking back. Deep. Anyway, what is up with biceps borrowing pictures of her from the past for the last couple of projects. We know she’s looking like Jocelyn Wildenstein these days, but she could afford a good retoucher. It would have been nice if she went all out and did a great shoot for Rolling Stone. You know, like one with greying hair and her nursing twin babies on each teat with Lady GaGa and Britney Spears’ faces superimposed on them. You know, all publicity is good publicity. She sure knows that. Anyway, where was she during the National Equality March?

Damir Doma Jacquard Silk Infinity Coat
3Here, at the Loft, there’s no room for designers who do men’s clothing that doesn’t experiment and conforms to certain standards of what they think masculinty is. As we understand that gender is an illusion and we like to play with it. So, when we saw this opulent breezy “infinity coat” on Oki-Ni we thought that it was spectacularly marvelous. The degradation of color, the chiffon and it’s general nonchalance makes it novel yet comfy apparel. But, for such high fashion there is a high price. The damage on this coat is $1,162 (333 KD). What do you think?

Rihanna to release album on November 23rd
1
The internet is a-buzzing with news that Rihanna will release her fourth album next month after the popstar herself tweeted “The Wait Is Ova. Nov 23 09.” But, there’s no buzz from a new single and the album release is already a month away. We feel that “the wait is ova” for another thing. Perhaps an announcement of sorts. Anyway, the wait wasn’t the long since her last single and she just released a collaboration with Jay-Z and Kanye West. Waiting on some more news to surface.
Premiere: Video: “Who Says” by John Mayer
1John Mayer has always walked a fine and sweet line between folk and soul. That’s why his brand of acoustic pop has staying power. Here, on “Who Says” from his upcoming album Battle Studies he does just that. Fusing acoustic guitar with a few elements of , dare we say, jazz. It’s a breathtaking sound along with catchy lyrics. Battle Studies will be released November 17th.

Cover for Susan Boyle’s album “I Dreamed A Dream”
3Susan Boyle is rushing her first album and what a quicker way to do it that to release a cover version album. I Dreamed A Dream is her debut album and it contains a cover of Madonna’s classic “You’ll See” (Yes, this is probably one of the only times you will hear me praise biceps). It should shift a couple of units, but it will make her sophomore much harder to sell. As people like covers but her common glory will fade out.
