Mariah Carey and Mo’Nique grace the new photos for Precious, their new movie funded by Oprah Winfrey that is set to take the world by storm, apparently, even if it will have a limited release. Mariah is looking better than what she is doing now with her retro look. Mo’Nique is always fantastical.
Cristiano Ronaldo makes music, sings song…
1We are not fans of soccer at all (actually we are quite averse to it). But, when one of its biggest stars makes some music, we post about it. Here, he sounds compeletly horrific. So much so that Jennifer Lopez would cringe. But with the music it’s actually not bad at all. Click below for the finished project.

Disney’s first black Princess Tiana
7It’s about time! Disney’s new animated movie has a black female as the main character. The Princess & The Frog is an old tale that’s getting a revamping of sorts by Disney. It will be done in Disney’s traditional “by hand” animation. It will also feature Oprah Winfrey as the voice of Tiana’s mother Eudora. We can’t wait for this! She already has her own float in Disney World, click below to see it.
Alicia Key’s album “The Element Of Freedom” pushed back to December 15th
1This is a new photo from the promo sessions for Alicia Keys’ fourth full-length album The Element Of Freedom, which has been postponed to Docermber 15, 2009. The record label insists that Ms. Alicia Keys herself wants to add some tracks to the album and that is the reason for the push-back. But, something smells fishy as Alicia was doing the promo campaign for it already and this fall quarter is very busy. Maybe, she is trying to avoid other artists as every album she ever had debuted at #1 in the US charts. So, she probably is avoiding a slip from that glory.
Premiere: Video: “Mowgli’s Road” by Marina & The Diamonds
Back in June we introduced Marina & The Diamonds,we thought she needed a little re-tweaking and it seems that now, after watching this new video of hers, she is going in the right direction. The video’s not bad either.
Cheryl Cole’s “Fight For This Love” debuts at number 1
2Cheryl Cole has finally made it. She has managed to knock her own student on X-Factor, Alexandra Burke, off of the top spot. Cheryl is currently number one on the UK Singles Chart with her debut solo track away from Girls Aloud. “Fight For This Love” is the opener for her solo career and the album 3 Words. The downloads sky-rocketed midweek and she managed to notch up some sexy numbers.
Wait, that’s not it. Cheryl Cole is basking in her success and has recently announced that she wants her own record label and (without the “or”) a fashion line. On top of all of that and X-Factor, she asserted recently that Girls Aloud are still going strong. Do you think she’s at her peak or is it just the beginning. We still are betting on Nadine Coyle to be the gem in the rough.

Kuwait: Green Caravan Film Festival 2009: The 11th Hour
This has been laying around here for a while now in its nice little environmentally-friendly cardboard package without getting played. I had a spare hour, so I played it and I was gripped from the beginning.
Narrated by Leonardo DiCaprio, this documentary does not wish to be provocative, it just lays down the scientific facts about global warming for you to dissect. The interviewees are not angry tree-huggers (although there is nothing wrong with that), they just explain the dire state our planet is on and the consequences that might unveil themselves in the near future if we don’t take care of this blue planet. These include independent researchers and famous names like Hawking.
This documentary doesn’t just list the things that are happening due to global warming, but it looks at climate change historically and as one affect rather than just a bunch of sordid events that include the Asian tsunami and Katrina. It singles out the human as the sole factor is this change. The exploitation of a planet that has been unrepentant about providing us with everything we need will suddenly go bankrupt, erasing millions of species with it and turning this thriving planet into an arid plane much like Venus.
Screening: Thurs, Oct 29th, 10:00 a.m. at Al Maidan Cultural Center.
Lebanon fights Israel over hummus!
1In an attempt to thwart Israel’s claiming of the hummus dish a bunch of Lebanese chefs and helpers gathered to make the world’s biggest hummus dish ever – breaking Israel’s record. AP explains: “Lebanese chefs react (above) after preparing a massive plate of hummus, seen in the middle, weighing more then 2,056 kilograms, during a bid to break a record previously held by Israel and reclaim ownership over the popular Middle Eastern dish, in Beirut, Lebanon, Saturday Oct. 24, 2009. The event is part of a simmering war between Lebanon and Israel over regional cuisine. Lebanese businessmen accuse Israel of stealing traditional Middle Eastern dishes, like hummus, and marketing them worldwide as Israeli products.”

The Best or Number Ones is not the only musical project one Miss Jackson is working on. She’s actually readying up a new album for early 2010 that is supposes to highlight the up-tempo Janet but also incorporate some mid-tempo tracks, according to the producer Rodney Jerkins. Let’s hope that Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis contribute to the album as well. “DarkChild” explained that fans can look forward to an emotionally driven album.
