John Mayer’s muchly-awaited new album has been leaked. Yes, the entire Battle Studies album. It’s his fourth album and it was supposed to be out on November 17th. He said about it: “The album is called Battle Studies and that’s because it incorporates a lot of the lessons, a lot of the observations, and a little bit of advice. Like a handbook, like a heartbreak handbook.”

      • gitz says:

Nope. Thats not being a bitch thats why the music industry, for the most part, is a pile of shit these days. No one buys CD’s anymore it is a shame artists such as John Mayer, with actual talent, are not wreaking the benefits of putting out a great album becuase a bunch of cheap ignorant people wont spend the 11 bucks or what ever it is.

First, this was a link to show that it has leaked. What you do from then on is not my business. Second, not everyone is sitting in their lofty Western abode clicking on iTunes whenever something surfaces. Some countries don’t have that kind of access.

    and very fluffy

Wow this really is a pile of shit. And just look at the titles:

    heartbreak warfare,
    perfectly lonely,
    war of my life,
    half of my heart,
all we ever do is say goodbye.

They look like, and in turn sound like boring mid 90s ballads. Does the unimaginably arrogant John Mayer really expect us to buy into this facade? It’s ridiculous. Continuum was a masterpiece. It really was. The melodies and the lyrics had so much depth and a lot of the tunes sounded like classic tracks from the 70s. Stop This Train is perfect.

And who said this? “it is a shame artists such as John Mayer, with actual talent, are not wreaking the benefits of putting out a great album” Do you honestly think John Mayer is not benefitting from all of this? He is a multi multi millionaire. Now that’s not to excuse illegal downloading, but artists such as himself make all their money from touring. I buy CDs to have a physical representation of what I’m listening to, not out of respect for the artist, most of it ends up in the legal sectors of labels. Radiohead released their latest album digitally for free essentially and it still hit number 1 almost everywhere it was released physically. MP3s don’t exist. It makes me angry we pay for something that could be wiped by some magnetic field or glitch at any second.

I also support the music industry in other ways, I go to 2 or 3 gigs a week. And it could be said if John Mayer wants to charge me £50 to see him play for 2 hours, i could either do that or buy his whole back catalogue. It all evens out in the end.

This isn’t blues, this is pop. He’s butchered the concept of blues so heavily now it would be an offence to validate this incarnation.

Not only is this album fluff , it’s a knockoff of other song from George
Harrison’s Isn’t it a Pity to U2′s Bad Lyrics. Any musician with half an ear can pick out the basic riffs and melodies.
    He should be sued.
Very disappointing coming from so much talent !
