Billboard has finally gotten over some of its archaic charting methods (Catalogue albums, anyone?) and is going to include a 15 spot chart for fold music beginning 2010. This will cater to artists like Ani DiFranco, Bob Dylan, Joan Baez and their fans. This also comes with the revamping of the Billboard 200. It’s still confusing, but better.
We wrote a piece on the lovely Paloma Faith over at our friends’ place SQUA.RE. It’s a piece that is unlike the writing we usually do here, but reminded us of our days as features editor. Click here to read it and comment.
Beach House is an American dream pop and indie rock duo formed in 2004 in Baltimore, Maryland. Their self-titled debut, Beach House, was named the 16th best album of 2006 by Pitchfork Media The have released a new single titled “Norway” that is as melancholic as it is autumn-y. The track has some instrument manipulations that sound like anything we had heard before. Click here for a guilt-free download of the song.
This is the first video from Skye’s new album Keeping Secrets. It’s chill and sultry and beautiful.
One of t he greatest talents of our time Ms. SiA Furler has been currently busy taking care of someone else’s career (Christina Aguilera). But, that hasn’t stopped her from working on her own album. It is tentatively titled We Are Born. One of the rumored tracks on it is a reworked version of the Laurent Flax collaboration “You’ve Changed,” which is a great track to begin with. Click here to listen to the new version. The album is set for a Spring 2010 release.
The songs sound so much better than they actually are on this trailer for the album The Fame Monster. Our current favorites are “Alejandro” and “Monster.” Maybe “Telephone” will grow on us. Does anyone else think that “Alejandro” sounds like Ace Of Base’s cover of “Don’t Turn Around?”
