New Christina Aguilera video? Or Goldfrapp? Maybe GaGa?

1

There’s a huge buzz circulating around the blogosphere (we are using this word today in commemoration of the fact that the person who coined it had just died) is these two videos of a “mystery” artist, being promoted by an anonymous Twitter account by the name of @iamamiwhoami.  These are two clips of an upcoming album of some artist that is yet to be known. It could be goldfrapp’s “Rocket” and it might be. The first single from the return to dance-synth. But, we feel like Goldfrapp, as fabulous as she is, can’t afford that type of video.

Also, Goldfrapp is already doing something anonymously under the name Sylvie Nylon, so why should she conjure up something else. It’s to much of a diversion. Next, GaGa. It would be her because she is in the middle of The Fame Monster and it’s too dressed down for her. Our prediction is that it’s none other than Christina Aguilera. No one licks like that except Christina. And, she has always been the kind to shock and awe before and album. Plus, the features on the licky monster are so xtina-ish.

Premiere: Video: “Amazing Grace” by Boy George

2

Chaining Norwegian rent boys to walls aside, Boy George is a pretty good musician. Whether he is with his band The Culture Club or solo, he’s always managed to churn up some good quality tunes like “The Crying Game,” “Karma Chameleon” and “Do You Really Want To Hurt Me?” We also loved his album U Can Never B2 Straight with the Spanish-tinted song “She Was Never He.” Anyway, he’s back now to full glam dance with this collaboration with fado singer Ana Lains.

Official cover for MIKA’s “Blame It On The Girls”

MIKA is still going strong on the campaign for the second album The Boy Who Knew Too Much (or as we like to call it The Boy Who Didn’t Know How To dodge The Sophomore Slump). This is the cover to the third, or is second, single. Was “Rain” a single? It’s the same-old beat with the same-old attitude. Not horrid, but not great. Maybe there’s another gem, but we haven’t bothered giving the album enough spins.

Shania Twain to interview Queen Rania of Jordan

1

Country singer and hiatus princess Shania Twain is doing some charity work that entails interviewing Queen Rania of Jordan for a show called The Current on Canada’s CBC. The show will air from Toronto and will include this sit-down with the Queen of Jordan. Also after carrying the Olympic torch, Shania Twain is going to be a guest judge on American Idol. Yes, a whole lotta things but not a new album. The last full-length album Shania release was Up! which is almost a decade old now.

Alanis Morissette writes autobiographical book, covers a Willie Nelson song

Just when you thought she left the music radar, she’s back. Alanis Morissette has announced that she has finished a book of essays, literary pieces, poems and other tidbits. Alanis is probably one of the only starlets we trust to write a book because she is very well-equipped when it comes to English, because she penned our favorite word “muchly” and, also, “purgatorying.”

Plus, she has recently announced that after the success of her version of Seal’s “Crazy” and her viral video for the Black Eyed Peas’ “My Humps,” she will be covering Willie Nelson’s “To All The Girls I’ve Loved Before.” But, we here she is going to do a very big no-no and change the female pronouns to the male pronouns to heterosexualize the song for herself. Anyway, we are sure it’ll be a great song still.

Mariah Carey’s acceptance speech

3

If you are looking for the drunken one, this is not it. This was her acceptance for the People’s Choice Awards show for the category of Best R&B Artist. She seems to be wearing the same old dress she wore for the Oscars that year “When You Believe” was nominated for an award. It’s really not our cup of tea, but Mariah’s a diva who can “sang,” and she puts it so we are not expecting her to look like a supermodel of the world.

Toni Braxton live at Soundcheck

Toni Braxton is determined to make 2010 her year and reclaim her throne after a long hiatus. It was too early for her to do Vegas and now she needs to get back to making some good tunes and a divorce album, which are always good.  This is her readying up for a promo tour to help get the word out on her highly anticipated next album Pulse. Still, we don’t know how she’ll manage to put out new material with all the leaked tracks.

Ellen Degeneres with Simon Cowell on cover of Entertainment Weekly

Not the biggest fan of the show, but now that Ellen is on it we definitely will be watching. Nothing good came out of the show, the only artists that we think have some potential are Jordin Sparks and Katharine McPhee. Kelly Clarkson had a good song here and there but that’s it. Oh, wait… we forgot about Adam Lambert!

Madonna picks producers for next album!

1

According to Yahoo Music News UK, Madonna has allegedly picked two producers to work with on her next album, which will be her first disc on the Live Nation contract. The icon is rumored to have picked A-Trak, who previously collaborated with Kanye West and Armand Van Helden. Also, another producer that she is allegedly working with is Brendan O’Brien, who is known for his work with Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan and is currently working with Aerosmith according to Wikipedia. The first producer is right up her alley, but the second one, we are not too sure about. Unless she is going for a rock album, which is not a far stretch for the queen of “re-invention” (aka regurgitation). But, maybe she’s looking for solid well-written tunes as she has been lacking some of those lately. At any rate, we’re ready for the next phase as the last one was tepid.
