Some Hindus angry with Cheryl Cole for goddess portrayal

1

Some Hindu group is mad at Cheryl Cole for what they think is a portrayal of the goddess Kali in here new video for “Parachute.” We don’t recall that scene in that video. From what we remember, it was pretty kosher. Anyway, here is the full article from Yahoo Music: “Hindu leaders have taken aim at pop star Cheryl Cole after learning she’ll be portraying Indian goddess Kali in her new video. Reports suggest the singer will be all-blue for the promo of Parachute – and Hindus are far from happy.

Religious scholar Rajan Zed has called for “clarification” from Cole, explaining, “The goddess Kali is highly revered in Hinduism and she’s meant to be worshipped in temples, and not to be duplicated in music videos for publicity stunts or thrown around loosely for dramatic effects.”

New video of Black Eyed Peas’ “Rock That Body”

We thought the next single was “Imma Be,” but it looks like the video is being made for “Rock That Body” and Fergie has been replaced by Sarah Palin. It could be a double A-side, or the record company has decided not to make a video for “Imma Be” since it’s already in the top five without the extra spending. At any rate, what’s a single anymore?

Send a Valentine’s e-card from RuPaul’s Drag Race

RuPaul’s Drag Race is airing its third episode tomorrow and in celebration of the much-dreaded but sometimes-appreciated St. Valentine’s Day they have dedicated an e-card section on their website if you want to send something to someone special with a little kick and a little saunter. Go over there and sashay away some cards to your loved ones. Also, this is a picture of Ru promoting her new book Workin’ It looking frail as ever. We hope all is ok with him.

Video: “Norway” by Beach House

We just can’t get this song out of our heads and even if this might not be the official video for the song from Beach House’s Teen Dream, we can’t spare not sharing it with everyone. We have never seen such an arrangement, at first it might sound too experimental, but that is only because this sonic presentation has never been heard before. We have high hopes for this band in 2010.

Although we are deeply rooted into politics, we’ve strayed away from local politics recently, not because of a lack of interest, but because the current medium is so backwards and depressingly uncouth. And we frankly have lost any passion in explaining the notion advancement to neanderthal minds. So, it is always a breath of fresh air when a well-spoken, well-educated female activist of human rights, liberty and equality delivers a message of progress and development. Although we don’t completely agree with her (as we tend to more radical leftists), we feel like she is the closest thing to a political figure we can identify with on certain levels. At any rate, it’s always a good day to see liberals spring up and voice their opinions instead of staying in the closet.

New Lebanese music project that fuses the Arabic laguage with experimental alt-folk beats. Well, at least in that video clip, which is scrumptious, might we add. Lovely burst of talent from the Middle East that need all the support they can get from music lovers in the region. Subscribe to their YouTube page.

Leona Lewis loves geese…

Leona Lewis recently voiced her opinion on her discontent with the Brit Awards menu. Apparently, the awards show is serving up some foie gras and Leona does not like that. Foie gras is basically force feeding a goose lots of food until there is no room and they lay bloated as they do not have a reflex to throw it up. This makes their insides plump and juicy to make some first-grade foie gras, which we happen to love muchly. But, Leona won’t stand by that. Again, we still don’t get why these animal loving people pick there battles very sparsely as we have never seen any of them protest a whopper, which requires the killing of a cow to be served. Like PETA and fur. Erm, isn’t KFC doing the same?

Nelly Furtado, Bryan Adams, Sarah McLachlan open up winter Olympics

The Canadians are holding the Winter Olympics this year, even if Vancouver did not have enough snow to support some of the games. We have George Bush to thank for that, but that’s another topic. Anyway, two of our favorite Canadians opened it up. Nelly Furtado and Bryan Adams. But, Canada is not too short on talent and other greats, such as Alanis Morissette and Celine Dion, could have been added to the rooster.

Premiere: Video: “Jump Up In The Air (Stay There)” by Erykah Badu featuring Lil Wayne

Erykah Badu is back in the game with this number that is bound to bring in the numbers as Lil Wayne is in it. The song gets the psychedelic video treatment. Its a cute video and very well recession-budgeted. The idea is nothing new but it compliments the song very well.
