Introducing… Alexa Wilding

2

Alexa Wilding is a New York City-based singer-songwriter. Upon the record’s self-release, Wilding was named “one of music’s hippest chicks” in the NY Post, alongside Juliette Lewis and Au Revoir Simone. She was featured as Nylon’s “Band Crush,” Page Six Magazine’s “Who’s That Girl,” and as one to watch in Dossier, Time Out NY, NY Press, and the UK’s Wears the Trousers. Her song “Black Diamond Day” was licensed to Morgans Hotel Group, to be included on a compilation with Kings of Leon and Florence and the Machine. Wilding also lends her music to the films and runway shows of Finnish design house, IVANAhelsinki, often appearing in designer Paola Suhonen’s films. The pair recently collaborated on a performance at Art Basel-Miami, in conjunction with the upcoming fashion and art publication, Love Contemporary.

Wilding cut her teeth playing with Int’l Shades, the art-rock project of ex-Pussy Galore/Sonic Youth drummer, Bob Bert, and guitarist Mark C (Live Skull). From 2006-2008, the Shades opened for Mudhoney, Kid Congo, Bush Tetras, and Genesis P’Orridge, of which Time Out NY noted, “It’s the unique presence of Alexa Wilding on vox and synths that gives the band its cool edge.”

As a solo artist, Wilding has gained critical acclaim for her “wintry, poetic songs that have a ghostly air to them” (Time Out NY). She plays regularly throughout New York City, most recently opening for Au Revoir Simone at Highline Ballroom
