It’s one thing to come out for the good of the community or to end one of the world’s oldest silences, but it’s another to do for a career boost. As we see in this video, Ricky Martin uses his world-renowned good look to reach a different audience. Not the time for it really, especially when the civil rights movement in its midst. But, he doesn’t matter anyway and has been made redundant in the pop world for a while now. The message of emancipation as tattoos are just laughable. It’s like he felt out of the closet into a circuit party. Sad.
Blur release new single “Fools Day”
1
how old is Damon Albarn looking these days? Who would have thought that the epitome of all twinks would turn into this. Anyway, in other news, the band that ushered in the britpop movement has suddenly decided to release a new track called “Fools Day.” It is released as a vinyl record to coincide with Record Store Day. Let’s hope there’s more material.
Christina Aguilera interview with GMTV
7Christina Aguilera really needs to step off her high horse and start giving interviews that are no self-righteous and, as a result, blazé. The new single is neither here of there. She’s heading in all the wrong directions. She comes back now on her fourth album after she had bashed the biggest star of the moment – Lady Gaga – and thinks she can win over people the way she did previously. It’s just a sad day to see such a talent drown in her own glory. The only chance we are going to give her pertains to the quality of her album, Bionic.

They are still on working on this as a single as we get withdrawal symptoms from the infectious “Always Up With You.”

1It’s Record Store Day…
Today is the day you need to step out of your downloading realm and go out and part with some cash for your favorite beats. Preferably, at an independent record shops who are suffering the most from this slump in sales due to the illegal downloading phenomenon. Not that we have anything against illegal downloading, the record industry has effed with us for so long they don’t have any sympathy from me. But, the indies and a young-ins need some support. So, go out buy a record, check the liner notes, listen to it and dance. Even if it’s from VideoClub, which, by the way, has a great 1KD sale on 90s’ classics you can’t even find on download online!
Robyn performs “Fembots” live
“I’ve got some news for you, fembots have feelings to.” The opening line has you at the mercy of a lyric and it’s said all robotically. Lovely little song that shouldn’t have been the first single, but serves its purpose. She’s also looking fierce might we add.
Rolling Stone digitizes all of its issues online!
Rolling Stone has digitized its archive catalogue and magazines for the cyber fans’ viewing. As of this month all of the previous copies of Rolling Stone will be made available online. Lady Gaga wows Japan with “Telephone” performance
1We love the local touch in the beginning and, as much as this song and video is being played, it’s becoming a bit of a grower. “Telephone” without Beyonce sounds better to tell you the truth. The piano is better than Beyonce’s part! Anyway, it’s always nice to see what Gaga will pull out of her ass every time she performs live.

SiA performs “Clap Your Hands” live in San Francisco
SiA’s fourth album We Are Born is shaping up to be the best album of 2010. This is the newest single from it and we can assure it’s a pop tune like no other. We’d like to call the connoisseur of organic pop. Her new music is uplifting yet raw.

Sade performs “Baby Father” live

Legendary: “My Skin” by Natalie Merchant
One of the loveliest little sombre songs from one of the greatest voices ever. We celebrate Natalie Merchant with the release of her new album Leave Your Sleep and look forward to it. If this song doesn’t move you, you have no heart.
We’re back!
3Yeah, so we delved in the jungle, did what we have to do. Camped it out, roughed it out, befriended the blue mosquitoes and the leeches and the buzzy spiders. Now, we are back and as of the beginning of this week the Loft will be running as usual with no interruptions, we just need some time to talk it out with our peeps and sort some shiz out that’s been going down and then we will be back to full pop glory. Meanwhile, amuse yourselves with a picture of us rummaging through the southern Madagascar jungle while being hot and bothered. Have you missed us?

Sandi Thom is making another comeback!
1Sandi Thom is not letting go. After skyrocketing to fame with her MySpace promoted single “I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker (With Flowers In My Hair)” he managed to pull of a semi-hit after it and then semi-hit-album. But, Sony, her former record label wasn’t too impressed with her, made a very premature greatest hits collection to reap the last of her cash drops and then allegedly left her standing in the rain. Now, she is back with a new album called Merchants And Thieves with a new single “This Ol’ World,” which is available for download on iTunes UK, apparently. We can’t get ahold of it because we don’t have a British account, but will get back to you once we hear it as she deserves a chance. We think at least.
