Omar Afuni covers Christina Aguilera’s “Not Myself Tonight”

1

An introduction is coming up this week on Omar Afuni, a talented young singer and songwriter that is taking YouTube by storm. But, this is just a little teaser of his capabilities. We have to say this is better than Xtina’s version.

Introducing… Boogaloo Stu

Boogaloo Stu returns to the fray with an EP of brand new material, preceding his third studio album (as yet untitled) which will be released early in 2011.

Following his exquisite second solo studio album Enough About You…Let’s Talk About Me, this new material sees Stu flexing his musical muscle with a new collaborator, with all tracks co-written and produced by Jonathan Allen. The results are a further distillation of the subtle melodic electronica and languid lounge-pop Stu is perhaps best known for – Forever More rediscovers the sweet, wistful sound of The Beloved and matches it with the blue, shimmering dream-pop of Royksopp.

Video Premiere: “Bang Bang Bang” by Mark Ronson

After the huge success of Version, Mark Ronson is ready to show a more original side to him. His new album is called Record Collection and its set for a September release. This is the first single off of it. It has a tint of 90s’ break beat that is muchly missed.

M.I.A.’s album “/\/\/\Y/\” has leaked!

M.I.A.’s third and eagerly anticipated new album /\/\/\Y/\ has leaked onto the internet and it’s being shut down as soon as it popping up. But, it’s popping up everywhere. But, we hear rave reviews about it. The first single “Born Free” was utter crap, but “XXXO” is growing massively on us. Please don’t download, but buy the album as M.I.A. needs support. Good times.

Watch Christina Aguilera on VH1 Storytellers

Christina Aguilera is somehow trying to bring credibility to her new songs by performing on VH1 Storytellers, but it looks like a mini-concert instead of intimate setting. And the songs are so not working for us still. “Not Myself Tonight” is probably one of the worst mainstream pop singles in earth. It comes in very close to Jennifer Lopez’s last one. It’s just to see someone so great eaten up by their own ego.

M.I.A. releases new single “XXXO” with Jay-Z

A few years back, M.I.A. wanted to retire from the scene following her second album Kala. It did well in the underground scene but then just subsided. Then a little movie by the name of Slumdog Millionaire used one of her tracks, arguably a weaker one, by the name of “Paper Planes.” The movie went on to become a big hit and pulled that song with it. She now enjoys mainstream success and somehow, this underdog who was doing it for the art, is back with a new album aptly selfishly eponymous third album by the name of /\/\/\Y/\, which spells out Maya, her short name. Well, in order to authenticate her “credible” music roots she has lashed out at Gaga numerously and released a fluffer first single with a video made just to be banned. “Born Free” is the kind of unlistenable balderdash you get from riot grrl chic aspirants. Now that her hard edge is back with this here-now, gone-tomorrow song and video, M.I.A. is ready to launch her full-fledged commercial money-making career with a good single by the name of “XXXO.” But, she had to go ruin it with a Jay-Z collaboration for the a little extra extra. Everybody’s gotta cash in somehow!

Video Premiere: “Loving You Is Easy” by Sarah McLachlan

The chanteuse of ethereal wisps and melodies is back with this new album and the lead single is a little midtempo ditty that is unlike her previous sound but the album Laws Of Illusion is in keeping with her winning recipe.
