Exclusive: 5 Questions with Loft965.com: Clare Maguire

2

1. Loft965.com picked you as an “Artist to look forward to in 2011.” How do you feel about that and what do you think this year holds for you?

I am so honoured that Loft965.com have picked me as a ‘one to watch for 2011′. It’s a huge confidence boost to know that you believe in what I’m doing. This year will be filled with writing, designing shows, making videos and hopefully a headline tour of my own.

2. We love “Strangest Thing” and “Ain’t Nobody.” What will be your next single?

My next single is ‘The Last Dance’. It’s available in the U.S. on the 22nd of February on iTunes. The video is on youtube now, check it out, I love it!

3. Your single “Last Dance” was written after the death of Michael Jackson. Were you fan of the legendary King Of Pop and how did you feel upon hearing the news?

It was triggered by his death but there were also many things happening in my life at the time that influenced the song. I was a huge Michael Jackson fan and I was devastated when he passed. I thought it was distasteful when I read mean comments about him online, so my anger triggered the need to write the song, I went into the studio and that was it.

4. Your debut album, Light After Dark, is coming out on February 28th. How would you describe it and what sound can we expect?

I would describe it as ‘big, emotive, honest epic pop.’

5. We love quotes, what is your favorite quote or motto?

One of my favourite quotes is ‘imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it’s better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring.’ Marilyn Monroe.

New Kids On The Block’s Jonathan Knight comes out as gay!

2

Update: we just found out he came out two weeks ago when we were disconnected in Rio De Janeiro.

Is it finally time for NKTOB member Jonathan Knight to come out? We saw him all queeny in a Scissor Sisters concert last year and, before that, once partied with him in Ogunquit, Maine. We always knew, but he never came out publicly, could this be this coming out? Jackie from The Eagle in the South End of Boston always told us he was! And who is the guy? So many questions from one tweet. Of course, all of the above is alleged.

Robyn to continue in mini-album format!

1

“The plan is to keep going and recording shorter albums so that I can keep my touring and my recording processes equal,” Robyn, whose single “Dancing On My Own” was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording, tells Billboard.com. “I just want to keep a flow, just stay inspired and keep working, and it feels like it’s possible with this way of working. I wasn’t sure in the beginning if people would get it, but they did, which is really cool. I’m touring a lot more than I thought I would, so I’m very happy about how I’ve been able to connect to my audience.”

Now. let’s talk about the birth/egg concept Lady Gaga opted for during her Grammy Awards appearance. Lofty Prediction: Lady Gaga’s music video for “Born This Way” will be banned!

1

Lady Gaga’s third album is not about to land without a bang. Although many people thought her performance during the Grammy Awards wasn’t that good, Lady Gaga could have something bigger up her sleeve. We think that the egg thing (which was already done by Bjork) wasn’t enough to initiate the launch of the third album. Rumors of the Lady Gaga giving birth in the video for “Born This Way” and/or wearing crucifix stilettos had us thinking that this dame wants to cause more controversy ahead of the release. We have a feeling that the video might be great, but she will push it even further to make headlines. What do you think?
