Lady Gaga apologizes for bigoted comment
1When we first read the interview we were enraged. “Retarded” should never be used in that manner. We’ve gotten into disputes over that before. It irks us everytime we hear it and it’s in big usage with a lot of people. We have to say that she fell from our eye a little bit, if you know what we mean. Now she is apologizing for it. She asserted: ”I consider it part of my life’s work and music to push the boundaries of love and acceptance. My apologies for not speaking thoughtfully. To anyone that was hurt, please know that it was furiously unintentional. An honest mistake, requires honesty to make. Whether life’s disabilities, left you outcast bullied or teased, rejoice and love yourself today.” Alright then, Gaga.
Video: “Leave U” by Kandi

2Again: Music For April: Gaypril 7
7We were a little late on this one, but it’s only because we were in Indochina and weren’t in the mood for much bubblegum. At any rate, you know this one and you know it for 7 years now. It’s up, it’s camp. Put it on, be whoever you feel like you want to be, brush off haters and continue in your path of perseverance, strength and ambition. Do it all with the utmost of pride. Enjoy! Gaypril 7 is here!
Preview of RuPaul’s “Glamazon” song!
3This is so exciting. So much so that we looked up “exciting” in the thesaurus and got this: “thrilling, exhilarating, action-packed, stirring, rousing, stimulating, intoxicating, electrifying, invigorating; gripping, compelling, powerful, dramatic.”… erm, Okay, not that much.
Introducing… Jessica 6
2
Formed in 2008, Jessica 6 is a hypnotic Brooklyn-based trio that pushes the boundaries of nu-disco and R&B. “It all started when Nomi [Ruiz] brought over a kick-pattern and a song she’d written called ‘Fun Girl’,” recalls Jessica 6 bassist Andrew Raposo of the band’s conception. Ruiz (the band’s front woman), Raposo and Morgan Wiley, Jessica 6’s keys and synth master, originally met while performing with Hercules and Love Affair. “We were enjoying listening to each other’s music beyond Hercules. It was really just about having fun,” says Raposo who first met Wiley in college before joining the now defunct DFA produced hip-hop act Automato together. “Then Nomi came in with hundreds if not thousands of songs her laptop.”

1Official album cover art of Jill Scott’s “The Light Of The Sun”
8This is probably the one thing that could distract us from all the beyonce hoopla as of now. The cover artwork to the muchly-anticipated fourth full-length album from Jill Scott, The Light Of The Sun. This is probably going to be one of the best albums of the year, if not the decade. Let’s hope it’s the best of the century, which she has the ability of reaching. Okay, let’s step off of our Jill Scott pedestal and just embrace the new look. Fierce, gurrrl!
