Mariah Carey calls twins “Moroccan” and “Monroe”

3

We really don’t do much gossip, but it is very interesting that Mariah Carey, who recently had twins (one girl, one boy) called her son Moroccan. We knew she had a Moroccan room in her lavish NYC apartment, but we didn’t know she loved us Arabs that much! And, of coure Monroe is named after Marilyn, whom she idolizes. Cute names.

Video Premiere: “All And Everyone” by PJ Harvey

1

What would 2011 be without PJ Harvey? A loud of emptiness. Harvey’s on a roll to make videos for her great album Let England Shake. This is another in a string of videos. We better absorb everything she throws our way because she allegedly threatened to be on a decade’s hiatus. Not cool, PJ!

Sexy Track: “Are You Leaving” by Erik Hassle

1

Erik Hassle is no stranger to sexy tracks. If this buzz single is a snippet of what we are getting for his second album, then it’s going to be a great year! Here, Erik Hassle does what he does best, merging school-house rock with lyrics of longing. Much like our favorite “Wanna Be Loved,” Hassle manages to emulate true emotions of love and attachment whilst being a rock star. This song has the power to get you up out of your seat to play air guitar and it has the power to make you cry. It’s a lovely confection.

First Listen: “Never Will Be Mine” by Robyn & Rye Rye

1

We are not the biggest fans of Rye Rye, but we do love us some premium Scandinavian pop from Robyn. This is a new collaboration between the two. No word on where it will be included. But, Robyn’s vocals are intact and if she is going to continue releasing those mini-albums, she better start collecting tracks. This is a remix of Robyn’s monumental track “Be Mine.” Click below to listen to the track.

Tori Amos announces new album “Night Of Hunters” and tour!

1

It’s official. Today, we woke up to an email from Tori Amosmailing list telling us that, aside from the fact that the musical she is working on is almost ready, the diva is ready to unleash a new album titled Night Of Hunters, currently slated for a September release. The album is going to be a magnifying look at classical music, a genre Tori Amos has loved forever.

Here’s what she had to say about it: ”It’s a 21st century song cycle inspired by classical music themes spanning over 400 years.  I have used the structure of a song cycle to tell an ongoing, modern story. The protagonist is a woman who finds herself in the dying embers of a relationship. In the course of one night she goes through an initiation of sorts that leads her to reinvent herself allowing the listener to follow her on a journey to explore complex musical and emotional subject matter.  One of the main themes explored on this album is the hunter and the hunted and how both exist within us.”

As if this wasn’t enough, Tori Amos has also announced a tour to go along with it! Click below for the dates.

Introducing… Thao and Mirah

3

Thao and Mirah both often go by their first names only. That is mostly why they wanted to make a record together. Other reasons include: they are friends, they were finally in San Francisco at the same time, and both joyfully welcomed a short departure from their respective successful solo careers to collaborate on a project.

Mirah (K records) started making music in the late 90′s in the Pacific Northwest, becoming a much beloved indie fixture there and well beyond. Her 5 celebrated solo records and multiple previous collaborations have brought her together with an eclectic assortment of dj’s, baltic music enthusiasts, entomologists and multi-media artists.
