Allegedly, the one and only soultress with the mostest Erykah Badu is venturing into the world of dance music. Rumors are circulating that with her new job as DJ Lo Down Loretta Brown has gotten her into the groove of making some shaking sounds. The queen of neosoul goes by different aliases like Medula Oblongata, Sera Ballum, Analog Girl In A Digital World and @Fatbellybella. So, it could be one of those phases. We all know how long Miss Badu takes to make an album.
Down To The Bone’s groove gets harder, funkier and juicier. Their music encompasses all that is funky, soulful and jazzy. As founder and producer of the band, Stuart Wade states that ‘it’s all about the groove….that is what gets people dancing, their toes tapping and their heads nodding.’
‘Wade formed the band several years ago, where previous musical and business projects such as ‘Internal Bass Records’ and ‘Think Twice‘ had given him the necessary experience to reach his musical goals. In 2001 Wade decided to go solo with the band and split from Internal Bass Records. All this summer uppity dance crap is getting to us and we can’t wait to get down to basics and listen to music of the heart and soul like the strums of Laura Marling who is prepping her third full-length album A Creature I Don’t Know for a September 12th, 2011 release. This may or may not be on the record, but it most likely will. We’re just guessing by the lyrical prowess and arrangement.
Ani DiFranco is about ready to burst with new songs for the new album, it could practically be a double album. This is one of them that has been lurking around for a while.

Beverley Knight has gone and give kudos to an oft-forgotten genre. While some of the best soul music came out of the UK, little people know it. The reason for it being, first, it has always taken the backseat to the soul music of the USA and, second, support is lacking for subdivisions of this genre on that side of the pond. Still, some gems accumulated throughout the years and Beverley Knight decided to give tribute to them on her 7th disc, Soul UK. On one of the highlights of the album, Knight covers the Young Disciples’ (fronted by Carleen Anderson) only hit. “Apparently Nothin’” is one of those tracks that doesn’t have to yell at you to get your attention, it’s smart lyrically and awfully catchy. It was also covered by Acid Jazz pioneers Brand New Heavies, but now we get the sweet serenade version via the impeccable vocals of Beverley Knight on Soul UK.
The second single from Lenka’s second album is aptly titled “Two.” As she told us in her interview with us, this was a prospective single. We like it, but we think there are stronger tracks on the album like “Shock Me Into Love” and “End Of The World.” Still, there’s enough time for all to be released. Continue reading

The lovely Robyn graced the Glasto lands with her sheer joyous music. The Body Talk series left us with so much music that we can’t ask for more, but we still are keeping an eye on any new releases from her because, let’s face it, Robyn’s brand of pop is the premium of our times.
Contrary to what many internet rumors are saying, this fifth album by the lovely Melanie C will not be a dance album. What’s the sporty one without some rock? Her “atmospheric” music is always the best and is, probably, some of the most underrated songs in the pop world. The Sea, her new album, will most certainly have gems. Although we are not big fans of this single, we won’t let it taint our idea of the album.
