Cher Lloyd performs “Swagger Jagger” at T4 On The Beach
1Rihanna covers Cosmopolitan magazine
Radiohead perform “Bloom” in a basement!
1We don’t know what it is about Radiohead albums recently, but whenever one is released we listen to them heavily for the first week and then it drops off of the radar real fast!
Haiku Review: “Good For The Soul” by Dionne Bromfield
2Jessie J interview on Glastonbury
1We still don’t like her much. For reals.
Jewel covers FitPregnancy magazine!
Sexy Track: “So Into You” by Ledisi
1Not much is heard from good rootsy soul music these days, so when a track comes up, you bet we will scour for it. Ledisi, no stranger to the principles of soul music, has unleashed a new subdued track with swaying beats and a groove that will leave you hanging for more and more. It’s one of those sweet lullabies on love and yearning. Nothing extra, no new production or edgy sound – just the basics of soul-laden sensuality.
Video Premiere: “I Took A Little Something” by Florrie
1Florrie is not about to give up with this new EP that insinuates everything about drug consumption, but doesn’t quite touch that line. Experimenting is probably her last attempt at some hipster-love. This is another refreshing summer track from the disc.
Don’t Quote Me, Vol. 549
1Video Premiere: “Best Thing I Never Had” by Beyonce
2Beyonce did well by choosing this song as the second single. Sometimes we think she is taking herself too seriously with the expressions in the video, which, at times, irk us. But, this is a great song and the visual is strong and simple.
First Listen: “Disco, Blisters & A Comedown” by Nicola Roberts
1The bonus track from Nicola Roberts’ debut Cinderella’s Eyes has surfaced. Have a listen.
Video Premiere: “Warpaint” by Warpaint
1Warpaint have a self-titled song and its has gotten the video treatment. Some parts are hella cool, the band has the potential to rise and rise.
Will Young to release fifth album “Echoes” soon!
1
Although he has disappeared for a bit with his “Greatest Hits” stint, he is back to making new music for all of us to enjoy one of the last great British blue-eyed soul mistresses. This is the fifth album of his, now prolific, career. He’s looking a little older on the cover, but this could either be him aging or a sign of maturity, which is every albums selling point these days, isn’t it? Let’s hope there’s more good pop to come from this crooner.
Legendary: “Southern Freeez” by Freeez
1This great fervor for soul from the UK is growing as this scour for more of this nasty beat continues. Here we see the maestro John Rocca at his best with great lyrics and a shaking disco reverb that will get up on your feet and leave you waiting for a mirrorball revival.
