Again: Music For August: Koligula
6This is the last compilation of the summer. As done as we are of sugary pop, we have to say that the research we put into this one is exceeds the usual release. We managed to accumulate a number of great tracks that built up to make a sturdy release. So, bask in the heat of the summer with this last “up” one for a while as we sombre into Fall, our least favorite season. Koligula is not genre-specific, but its concept is to introduce new pop acts and songs that could have gone without note this summer. Something to rile your senses up before you simmer down, down, down. Also, if you know the beautiful person on the cover you will have a greater understanding of the chosen title and the reason behind some of the songs on it. Happy 30th Birthday, M! Much love and appreciation. As usual, your feedback is always welcome.

Legendary: “Girl From The Gutter” by Kina
1This former Brownstone member launched her solo career with a great track and then meandered into oblivion. This was a strong rock anthem, the time it came out and the lyrics are so powerful and simple. She didn’t look bad either. We wonder where she is now.

1Tori Amos talks about “Night Of Hunters,” Real Housewives Of New York!
3One of our favorite artists on earth has launched her media campaign for the new classical-inspired album Night Of Hunter and, boy, do we love us some Tori Amos interviews. The very poignant Amos usually packs a punch in her interviews, but we didn’t expect her to be an addict of reality show like us. She has explained: “I actually sat with Tash at Easter and watched ‘The Real Housewives of New York’ from the beginning. She said, “Mom, you’re going to get addicted!” I sat there eating popcorn watching the whole thing – I couldn’t believe it – from early morning until late at night. My sister was flying in and we were waiting for her to show up and it wasn’t a great day outside and so we watched an entire season! It was crazy! But I couldn’t watch it ever again. I said, “I can’t do this, Tash – I’ll never work again!”

1The Swedish outfit is showing no signs of stopping. Their new album Ritual Union boasts a couple of good tracks, we heard.
Official cover art of Vengaboys’ “Greatest Hits” collection!
1If anyone remembers the Vengaboys, they will know how catchy their cheesy pop songs were. In fact, the might be shrugged off as an advent of careless pop with Eurotrash arrangement, but not many bands can say they came up with catchier hooks than this group. We don’t know if they have enough to fill a whole disc, and we are guessing there will be many remixes and half-hits of this one. But, their big hits are still as infectious as they were before. Now, the cover art, that’s a different story. 1/10.

1Sadly we’ve almost come to the end of our previews from The Sea, today we are sharing a clip from “Weak.” Written alongside Jez Ashurt and Ina Wroldsen, the track has a catchy chorus, which we wish you luck in getting out of your head.
