The 90s’ folk-rock band that offset the grunge movement with their dreamy and bluesy brand of alternative, Mazzy Star, are back after calling it quits 15 years ago. The band, whose most famous hit song is “Fade Into You,” are putting the final touches to their new project. On October 12, 2011, Hope Sandoval’s official website confirmed the duo would release their first new material in fifteen years later that same month. The double A-sided single, “Common Burn”/”Lay Myself Down”, will be released digitally on October 31, 2011, while a limited edition color vinyl will be released on November 8, 2011. Their fourth studio album is expected to follow in early 2012. Click below to listen to a preview of their new song “Common Burn.”
Video Premiere: “Movement” by Katy B
1This has a nice groove to it. “Give me movement, I need some kind of improvement.” This needed a little bit of a stronger beat, but it’s not bad at all.
Kate Havnevik announces new album “You,” releases official cover art!
1For those of you taken aback by the glory of Melankton, we have great news for you. After giving us a luscious taster with “Show Me Love,” Kate Havnevik is back with a new album after a hiatus titled You. The album is available for purchase on Kate’s official website. Click here.
Amazing: Bobby McFerrin captures human connectivity to music!
1Bobby McFerrin demonstrates the power of the pentatonic scale, using audience participation, at the event “Notes & Neurons: In Search of the Common Chorus”, from the 2009 World Science Festival, June 12, 2009. This is a powerful video that showcases the connectivity of the human brain to melody and sound. It also takes music history down to its roots and explains the universality of music.
Adele wins two Q Awards!
1She might not have picked up the Mercury Prize Award for her sophomore album 21, but she won not one but two Q magazine awards for her efforts. Adele’s latest album has been certified platinum 10 times in the UK. It comes as no surprise that it would get that kind of reception. It seems the throat problems that she is having with her health recently stopped her from attending the event. We hope she is OK.
Must-Watch: Video: “My I.Q.” by Ani DiFranco
4We grew up listening to this music and it still rings true to us. Music is great, but it’s greater when you have something to say. Ani DiFranco always has something to say. This is a great kinetic typography adaptation of the spoken word track from the monumental album Puddle Dive that was the voice of a generation. Listen without prejudice.

2Must-Watch: Video Premiere: “Come On” by Will Young
1This is as fresh as they come. This video just debuted and Loft965.com is bringing it to you first! Will Young’s new album, which we really haven’t given the time it needs to listen to, Echoes has spawned another single and it features a dog show!
Sexy Track: “Princess Of China” by Coldplay & Rihanna
1To ensure that their fifth album is a success, after critics have insinuated on their songs being redundant in style, Coldplay have brought in the big guns to ensure at least two hits on the album, considering the first single will be set aflame no matter what it sounds like. So, Rihanna came in on one of the better tracks on the album to lay her vocals on a track by a band known for their melodies more than they are for their pipes. The result is a strongly structured song with poignant lyrics and pop zing. Coldplay should consider hiring vocalists for their music as it seems to work very well on this one. Now, imagine if “The Scientist” was warbled by Jill Scott!
Melody Gardot teams up with Renault!
2Can we get some new material, please?
Haiku Review: “TKOL RMX 1234567″ by Radiohead
3Video Premiere: “Hang It Up” by The Ting Tings
2Is it just us or is this purely horrid. This is a hot mess. We expected more from The Ting Tings who delivered a great debut album. But, the two tracks that we got from them (“Hands” and “Hang It Up”) are just not up to par. So sad to see We Started Nothing followed by this balderdash.

5Oh Land performs “White Nights” live!
This has got to be one of our favorite songs of the year. She does a good job at it while on tour. We know she is busy supporting Katy Perry on tour, but she needs to build more buzz because it kind of died down, didn’t it?
Chirp: Beyonce’s “End Of Time” video!
All these @Beyonce videos are popping up and it's great, but she better be keeping the "End Of Time" video for the end!—

Pink’s impromptu performance at Sleep No More!
1P!nk has been away taking care of her baby, but she went out recently to shows us just how great her vocal prowess is. Here, Pink was in the audience and felt the urge to go on stage and sing. Lovely little video.
First Listen: “Le Bump” by Yolanda Be Cool featuring Crystal Waters
2The dance group that got you the highly infectious, yet absurdly-overplayed “We No Speak Americano” are back with another track that slightly missed the summer. To ensure its success, the band got dance-dive extraordinaire Crystal Waters to provide vocals on the track. Click below to listen to it.
Kelly Clarkson performs “Mr. Know It All” on X-Factor!
5We are not the biggest fans of Kelly Clarkson, but we think she has some strong numbers. Upon recommendation from our fellow bloggers we gave her new leaked album a stream or two and we have to say it isn’t so bad after all. We like “Stronger,” it’ll probably be the next single.
