Sky Ferreira disappears and then appears again, which makes it hard for her to build a solid fan base. She needs to concentrate on a solid album and good exposure for it because now everything seems sporadic with her. Anyway, this is the new tune.
Don’t Quote Me, Vol. 586
1“As a creative person, in all the different things that I’ve done or ways that I’ve found to express myself, I’ve consistently come up against resistance in certain areas. I think that the world is not comfortable with female sexuality. It’s always coming from a male point of view, and a woman is being objectified by a man — and even women are comfortable with that. But when a woman does it, ironically, women are uncomfortable with it. I think a lot of that has to do with conditioning.”
- Madonna
Mariah Carey talks about her babies, Christmas, John Legend, Justin Bieber
4So it seems Merry Christmas II You is getting a deluxe version with the Justin Bieber and John Legend duets on it. Not bad for the season, but we’d like a non-seasonal Mariah album real soon. We are glad she is releasing a video soon, but it’s probably not going to be fantastical. Probably just Mariah and John Legend sitting around the Christmas tree (or as we call it – the Pagan tree). What festive surprise does she have for us?
Adam Lambert’s new album is called…
1Adam Lambert might not have won American Idol, but he is doing better than the ones who have (hello, Rubben Studdard). The glam icon is back with a new album following his successful debut and live CD. The sophomore full-lengther is going to be called…
Video Premiere: “Our Day Will Come” by Amy Winehouse
Posthumously, Amy Winehouse is still rocking! This is a new song from the quickly put-together album of unreleased material called Lioness: Hidden Treasures. The song sounds like a cut from the Back To Black era. It’s all taken from snippets of her previous videos and then some still to zoom into. It looks like a VH-1 Behind The Music documentary. Let’s hope the unleash some unseen footage next time around.
Ani DiFranco releases details for new album “¿Which Side Are You On?”
4We have the greatest of pleasures in announcing the new Ani DiFranco album. The new album is called ¿Which Side Are You On? and marks DiFranco’s first studio album in more than three years. The collection features 11 new songs alongside a radically reworked rendition of the classic title song, famously popularized by the one and only Pete Seeger nearly five decades ago, but no less relevant today. Backing DiFranco is a remarkably diverse line-up of stellar musicians, including members of her own crack touring band as well as such guest players as Ivan and Cyril Neville (of New Orleans’ first family of funk and R&B, The Neville Brothers), avant-saxophonist Skerik (Pearl Jam, R.E.M., Bonnie Raitt, The Meters), acclaimed singer/songwriter and Righteous Babe Anaïs Mitchell, guitarist Adam Levy (Norah Jones, Tracy Chapman, Amos Lee), and a host of New Orleans-based horn players known for their work in such outfits as Galactic, Bonerama, and The Rebirth Brass Band.
What’s more, Ani is joined on her stunning new version of “¿Which Side Are You On?” by the aforementioned Pete Seeger, whom she praises as “my elder, my forefather in folk music and political song.” DiFranco was inspired to record the famed protest anthem after being invited to perform at Seeger’s 90th birthday celebration at Madison Square Garden in May 2009. She contributed her own straight-from-the headlines verses to the song and has used it to close her own live shows ever since. The newly recorded version of “ ¿Which Side Are You On?” is a funk-fueled epic, incorporating not just Ani’s band, but Seeger himself on banjo and vocals alongside The Rivertown Kids, a Hudson Valley-based children’s chorus, and The Roots of Music Marching Crusaders, a brass band consisting of students from The Roots of Music, a music education program for at-risk middle-school students in New Orleans.

Must-Watch: Video Premiere: “How Come You Never Go There” by Feist
1Metals is a grower and this is the best tune on the album. It’s good to see that this slow number got the video treatment, but it’s also better that she had Rapunzel-inspired hair in it. We like the motif and the black and white choice. Loves it.

1Video Premiere: “The Broken Ones” by Dia Frampton
1We know she has an amazing voice as demonstrated by her cover of Adele’s “Someone Like You,” but this song is not exactly stellar nor is it a great vehicle to portray one’s vocal abilities.
Don’t Quote Me, Vol. 585
1Adele performs “Set Fire To The Rain” live!

1Beyonce’s performance of “I Was Here” for the “Live In Roseland” DVD!
1This song was the last song in the encore of the concert. Beyonce takes it a little bit too seriously as usual. We are awaiting the DVD though.
Kate Bush’s album “50 Words For Snow” has leaked in full!

Video Premiere: “Go Off” by Sahara Davenport
2Ok, horrible song, but at least we got the Manila Luzon cameo along with Jiggly Caliente who is a new contestant. Philippina pride!
First Listen: “Starring Role” by Marina And The Diamonds
1Marina + The Diamonds are back to what they do – Pop-tinged rock. This is the second single of off her new project, set to be called Electra Heart. “Starring Role” is not that great to our ears, though fans of the genre will swoon over it. Click below to listen to it.
Legendary: “Cradle And All (Live)” by Ani DiFranco
1This just takes our heart and takes it to levels that are beyond metaphysics.
Sexy Track: “Down For Whatever” by Kelly Rowland
3Kelly Rowland’s new album is a hodgepodge of R&B and Dance music – a fine line to walk. That is clearly to satisfy her old fans and her post-David Guetta fans. This one is for the dance heads who only listen to tracks if they have remixed heavily. Keeping in my that Kelly ventured into dance way before Guetta summoned her for a track with “Work,” this is a natural evolution of this strut. A palpable track with a Hi-NRG mentality and slutty lyrics to keep you singing out loud for the rest of the winter. Kelly hit it big time with this one!
Video Premiere: “Hit The Lights” by Selena Gomez & The Scene
12011 is Selena Gomez’s year. The Scene have catapulted their music onto the pop world and left their mark. Although we think songs like “Bang Bang Bang” and “My Dilemma” should have been singles before this one, this track, a little too Katy Perry for our taste, is ready for the radio. We like her.
Video Premiere: “Person Of Interest” by Rebecca Black
1Rebecca Black is trying to branch out from YouTube sensation to pop domination. But, this has less “of interest” and more of MOR.
