Legendary: “Parallelograms” by Linda Perhacs

1

Linda Perhacs is a California dentist who recorded the legendary psychedelic folk record Parallelograms back in 1970. The album disappeared without much of a proper release and Linda went back into dentistry, only to discover a new generation of fans and artists (like Devendra Banhart, Daft Punk, and Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth) hailing her album as an influential masterpiece 40 years later. This is just a snippet of her contribution to freak folk way before it become a genre.

Sexy Track: “Movement” by Katy B

1

It’s about to be a dance-tastic end-of-year. Katy B has delivered one of the best dance songs of the year with this track. “Movement” is a solid contender in ruling the DJ spins this year. It’s a get-up-and-strut kind of track, the kind that starts a night. It is reminiscent of such classics as Nina Sky’s “Move Your Body” and Lumidee’s “Uh Oh.” Fresh on the vocals, this song has one thing in mind and that is a good time. With this track, Katy B’s career seems to be going strong. This is the sixth single from her Mercury Prize-nominated On A Mission.

Video Premiere: “Up” by James Morrison fearting Jessie J

1

Good things James Morrison landed this duet with Jessie J before she blew up. She probably decided that she is too big to do this video now, but still carried on. She’s been known to have flaked out on people once she got to a certain level. Well, we still don’t see the lure behind Jessie J. It’s actually quite sad that she won that Brit Award over the likes of Jamie Woon and Clare Maguire.
