“Paris Is Burning” from the debut album kept us alit throughout our trip to Ho Chi Minh City, Veitnam back in the day. We listened to it non-stop on repeat and over. Other tracks didn’t really rise to the occasion, but she had a fierce entrance to the scene. This second offering, Anxiety, is probably a stronger record, purely by educated guess.

Mariah Carey attends BET Honors!
“I was privileged enough to attend the BET Honors last night here in DC and it was great! Got to rub elbows with tons of folks and I must say Mariah and Nick looked phenomenal! They were one of the last to arrive in the venue (Mariah on time?! Hell no! lmao)! Security was verrrrryyy tight, as they had cross streets around 3\4ths of the venue completely blocked off to car and foot traffic unless you arrived in a chauffeured SUV or vehicle like we did. All of F street between 12th and 11th streets were blocked. The show started a little late and ran about an hour late due to re taping some things with the incomparable Stevie Wonder! I also attended the after party at The Portrait Gallery a few blocks away, where most of the honorees were in attendance as well as other celebs who skipped the carpet to go into the venue at The Warner! Plus DC is freezing right now! Lol I took a few pics but due to privacy I will only post a few on my personal FB page but I will send you guys a pic I snapped, after the show let out, of the VERY well made program that we all received upon entrance! I’m glad that BET has finally given Mariah her props. They were long over due! Kelly was great but no one can sing Mariahs’ songs better than she can! Never have and Never will! All in all everyone in attendance had a great fun and classy night!”

Santigold’s new album is called…
2Santigold announced that the follow-up of Santogold would be out in spring 2012. It was recorded in part in Jamaica. She described her forthcoming album as “sonically eclectic but with some epic curveballs thrown into the mix”. We waited and waited. I have a song called “The Keepers”: “we’re the keepers, while we sleep in America our house is burning down”. ”Big Mouth,” the first track and video from the album was issued in late just a week ago. So, click below for the name of the new album!
Video Premiere: “If You Love Me” by Kayla Brianna
Kayla Brianna knows who to sample. Or, someone in her team knows to sample a great band like Brownstone, who didn’t have a good run with their career but managed to deliver some sturdy R&B beats.
Air release more details on their album “Le Voyage Dans La Lune”
According to a press release, the album takes its inspiration from the classic 1902 silent film Le Voyage Dans La Lune (A Trip To The Moon) by Georges Méliès. A fully restored version of the film is currently playing at film festivals world-wide. Air composed an original score for this new film version of the film. A free 3-minute film excerpt featuring the song “Sonic Armada” was made available for one week in early December 2011 in conjunction with a pre-order offer. The digital version of the album along with the newly restored and colorized 16-minute film will be released as a strictly limited edition.

Sexy Track: “Diet Mountain Dew” by Lana Del Rey
There’s a lot of talk concerning Lana Del Rey performance during Saturday Night Live. Many naysayers are raising every flag they can against her artistry. Fortunately, most of those people know zilch about pop music. Alternative hipsters and mainstream junkies can sit aside and admire the allure of the 21st century pop star. No need for vocals, as demonstrated by Madonna’s lengthy career. It’s all about the visual and if the song sound delicious after the studio treatment then its good to go. You don’t believe us? Just ask Lady Gaga and Ke$ha, whom we love both (Ke$ha more than Gaga). This song demonstrates this pop culture newcomer that has already propelled herself to icon status. Just like Diet Mountain Dew, it’s sugary, fresh and ready to sell. It merges a darkened blues underlying with a light fluffy concept. This is lovely.

We are still in love with him. Let’s hope the incumbency continues its reign.
JoJo covers Rihanna’s “What’s My Name”
Video Premiere: “I Was Just A Card” by Laura Marling
Laura Marling’s album A Creature I Don’t Know is not as lovely to its predecessor in accordance to our taste, however, that doesn’t mean that it didn’t quench our thirst. It could be better, but it’s not bad like Ceremonials.

David Bowie covers Rolling Stone magazine!
Video Premiere: “Vicious Love” by Gabriella Cilmi
Gabriella Cilmi is trying every genre known to earth to make and all she needs to know is that her Aussie pizzaz is all she needs to get her where she wants to get. A new album that concentrates on vocals and less of overproduction in the studio would do wonders. Not sure where this track is from but the investigation shall ensue.
