This sounds like it will be spectacular. Australian dance duo Pnau together with Elton John have today announced details of a new single to be released from their debut album Good Morning To The Night. The track “Sad” will be released on July 16th, the same day as the album. The song includes elements from a number of Elton John original sound recordings including “Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word,” “Crazy Water” and “Curtains” to name but a few.
Elton himself is a huge fan of Pnau’s work and gave his blessing as well as access to his original works from that era to allow them to create this revolutionary new collection of compositions. Elton’s summer tour of Europe will include an appearance in Ibiza at the 123 Festival on July 2nd to promote the project with Pnau.
The lead track from the album Good Morning To The Night was originally leaked, initially airing on Pete Tong’s BBC Radio 1 show. The awesome yet almost unrecognisable reinvention of Elton’s 1972 song Mona Lisas & Mad Hatters also features as one of eight tracks on the album, released on July 16th.
Some of the songs on the album draw from as many as six different early Elton tracks and added loops, samples and their own material, creating an altogether revolutionary new style of music reinterpretation.
