Video Premiere: “Anything Can Happen” by Ellie Goulding

UK singer/songwriter Ellie Goulding releases the video for her first single, “Anything Could Happen” today, September 5. The song, written and co-produced by Goulding is from her sophomore CD, Halcyon out October 9th on Cherrytree/ Interscope. The video, directed by Floria Sigismondi (the film The Runaways, Katy Perry) was shot on the beach in Malibu. In the video, Ellie and her soul mate have gotten into a car accident where the outcome is uncertain.

“I wanted to do a video that made people really think,” says Ellie. “I wanted there to be a surreal aspect but also something very emotional and touching. The idea that so much can change in a single instant scares me and I like confronting my fears. Some people might find the video hard to watch because of how sad it is but I wanted it to be thought provoking! Working with Floria was perfect because she is as crazy as me but is a really, really clever person who turns crazy ideas into beautiful ones.”

“Anything Could Happen” is the first new original music from Goulding since she burst onto the scene with the catchy folk-pop electro songs from her debut album Lights, which was the best-selling debut album of 2010 in the UK. Certified double-platinum in the U.S., the single, “Lights” has sold 3 million copies and topped the Top 40 radio chart for two consecutive weeks at #1.

Ellie will be performing in NY and LA week of release:

Oct 11 New York, NY Santos Party House

Oct 16 Los Angeles, CA Troubadour
