Lady Gaga’s third album track titles revealed!

9 08 2010

We knew “You And I” was going to be there and that it is not going to be a single. But all of these?! “Far From Me,” “Born This Way,” “Someone Save Me Tonight,” a collaboration with none other than David Bowie “Vinyly,” Scream Loud” and our personal favorite “Hooker On A Church Corner” all sound like heaps of fun. There are also two working title demos allegedly floating around named “Ink” and “Rose Thorns.” We don’t know about you but the track list sounds rock.

Exclusive: 5 Questions with Loft965: Rox

28 07 2010

1. In 2009 Loft965.com billed you as one of the artists to keep an eye out for in 2010. How was your year been so far?

Its been a great year. VERY busy. First of all I released “Memoirs”, my debut album. Also I have been touring the UK and Europe and have played at some amazing festivals. Oh and yes, forgot to mention, I got to play at the same festivals as Stevie Wonder, Grace Jones, Herbie Hancock!!!!

2. Memoirs is your Debut album. How much time and effort did it take for you to complete it?

Memoirs took a lot of time and efforts for me, I am ultimately very proud of it though so all the hard work paid out. Also it was such a great experience and I am so happy to have had the chance to work and collaborate with many brilliant artists.

3. We know your influences include Joni Mitchell, Sade, Alanis Morissette, Mary J. Blige and Lauryn Hill, but who would your dream collaboration be with?

How about ALL THE ABOVE!

4. “My Baby Left Me” and “I Don’t Believe” are some of our favourite tracks of the year. When will the next single drop and which track will it be?

Thanks! My next single will be Rocksteady and will be released in September. I am looking forward to it. Its the most “Reggae” track out of the whole album and one which emphasizes my Jamaican Roots.

5. Here at Loft965.com we love us some quotes. What’s your favourite quote or proverb?

“If you don’t want anyone to know, don’t do it!”

Loft965.com has its best month ever!

3 07 2010

This past June has brought in record numbers for our little blog, here. We managed to get our best month ever in consistency while building up our fan base to record proportions. The blog is on fire and we are loving every bit of it. Of course now we have 3 contributors and myriad of loyal friends from all over the world who believe in a thing called pop. We also managed to notch up a couple celebrity fans and we have landed on the roster of many press agencies wanting to market their artists, from representatives of new artists to that of Kylie Minogue, Sade, Lady Gaga, Toni Braxton and more. We look forward to the future and hope to fill you ears with the best music out there. A huge thank you in the form of digital love to you all. Thank you for coming in by the thousands everyday and keep coming back!

Loft965.com commemorates the King of Pop, Michael Jackson

25 06 2010

It’s been exactly a year since our beloved Michael Jackson has passed away and pop hasn’t been the same since. As if his passing wasn’t enough, people started insulting playing “Billie Jean” and “Beat It” on repeat as if the King was only good for two hits, or anything that came from Thriller. But, his legacy continues and the real musicologists know that he is more than just an 80s’ fad or fading star.

Summer is here!

19 05 2010

Our favorite season and the time for fun is here. Summer is upon us and, boy, are we happy. Time for the dirty beats and taking off your clothes. We are feeling the sunshine and the splash. Are you? If not, there are some good sounds coming your way from the Loft to get you up, out and going!

Liza Minnelli to release new album titled “Confessions”

12 05 2010

Yes, Liza with z is still at it and she is going to release a new full-length album, Confessions, this September, 2010. We wonder what it’s going to sound like. Probably theatrical and filled with attitude, but with old studio mentality.

Finally got the iPad!

12 05 2010

We managed to get it with the last standing dock in the entire country. It’s 64 GB, that means it could only take a third of our music collection if we decided to fill it up completely. Let’s not even consider the videos. So, we just settled for Undersea Poem’s debut and Kate Nash’s My Best Friend Is You (maybe tomorrow Janelle Monae’s Archandroid and Natalie Merchant’s Leave Your Sleep). But, we love it. We already got all the magazine subscriptions that we can’t get over here because some censor decided to have a field day on boobies. The application is called Zinio and we got yearly memberships of Rolling Stone and Out. Because, we are. It’s smooth and handy. We love it and can’t get enough of it. And, no, it’s not a big iPhone or a small Macbook Air. It’s a creature of its own, especially if you like reading. Best apps post coming up soon. We called it LoftPad, bitches.

We’re back!

16 04 2010

Yeah, so we delved in the jungle, did what we have to do. Camped it out, roughed it out, befriended the blue mosquitoes and the leeches and the buzzy spiders. Now,  we are back and as of the beginning of this week the Loft will be running as usual with no interruptions, we just need some time to talk it out with our peeps and sort some shiz out that’s been going down and then we will be back to full pop glory. Meanwhile, amuse yourselves with a picture of us rummaging through the southern Madagascar jungle while being hot and bothered. Have you missed us?

Jill Scott on the cover of Essence magazine

2 04 2010

The multi-talented Jill Scott is on the cover of the May edition of Essence magazine looking greater than ever. She has accomplished a lot recently. Jill is starring in the new Tyler Perry movie with Janet Jackson “Why Did I Get Married Too.” The movie is in theaters starting today Friday April 2nd. She is also keeping up with her music career. What a successful independent woman.

We’re taking a little time off for Madagascar!

30 03 2010

It’s time to give back to Mother Earth. As of today, I am embarking on a three-week adventure into the wilderness of Madagascar. I am going to do some volunteer work on environmental conservation and a lemur study program. As you might know, the secluded island nation of Madagascar has some of the most interesting and different flora and fauna of any nation on earth. Unfortunately, due to an increase in human population, deforestation has led to many of the species being either endangered or have gone  completely extinct. One of the animals unique to this land is the lemur. I am glad to be a part of this program.

For the next couple of weeks, I will live in the middle of the jungle with no electricity, no phone service, minimal contact and camp in a tent eating rice and beans everyday. So, I will not have internet service. Meanwhile, the blog will be maintained with timed posts and a contributor has offered to take care of it. The blog might not be the same for a few, but bear with us until we finish enjoying this adventure. Who knows, it could be better than when I ran it!

It’s a pictorial representation of the nightlife and high fashions of Dubai with snippets of videos and text posts that would be of interest to both the curious travel reader to the cosmopolitan “superficialite.” This blog is truly one of a kind and it has surprised us with its minimalist template, fashion-forward photography, knack for snappy soundbites and style commentary. Loft965.com headlines Google

18 02 2010

Loft965.com head quarters is proud to announce that today a post headlined a Google topic on blog search. The biggest headline on the matter and it has to do with former Girls Aloud member Cheryl Cole owning the show and being better, if we may say, than Lady GaGa during the Brit Awards 2010.

Loft965.com featured 3 times in 1 day on Google!

11 01 2010

This has been a pretty good day for us as Google’s Blogsearch has featured our blog in it’s entertainment section 3 times for 3 different posts in one day. This means that the site is very well wired to the web and that Google’s search engine thinks that we are a pretty reliable and current blog. Also, Wikipedia used us as a reference for their page on Rihanna’s new single! Good days. Keep it coming!
