Introducing… Guðrið Hansdóttir

1

Way out in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, between Iceland and Scotland, is a cluster of 18 small islands called the Faroe Islands. Thats where Gudrid Hansdóttir was born and raised. Her music is a Lilith Fair-worthy blend of chamber pop and perky folk-rock and the past years she´s been performing in Europe and USA.
Gudrid started singing at an early age and shared a high interest in Music. She loved going through her fathers vinyl records and she discovered great artists like Kate Bush, Dolly Parton, Jethro Tull and Jimi Hendrix. Her father was a highly skilled guitar player on the Faroes and on Gudrid´s 14 year old birthday he taught her a couple of guitar chords and she started writing songs of her own.

Sexy Track: “Pop Song” by Hafdis Huld

1

Formerly of GusGus, Hafdis Huld has done well as a solo artists. The Icelandic muse is already on the campaign for her third album and this is the lead single off of it. It’s kooky, as we came to expect from her, but also perfect for those crisp autumn mornings. The lyrics are simple yet striking. The arrangement is the same without straying too far away from her signature sound which is a great mixture between winter folk and playground love. This track is a breezy numbered that will leave you wanting more.

Just when you thought no one can be quirkier than Bjork in Iceland, Hafdis Huld shows up. This little iceberg-folkie is loopy as hell, yet very talented and has a beautiful distinct voice. This is the first single (or buzz track) from her yet-untitled third album. Click below for the link! If anyone can get the song in mp3 format please tell us!

Must-Watch: Video Premiere: “Moon” by Bjork

1

We are the first blog to post this! Only 202 views when it was published. Bjork has released yet another video from her newly-leaked album Biophilia. This is just lovely and quirky at the same time. “Nourish the with thier saliva,” only can Bjork sing seriously. Tell us what you think!

Official cover of Björk’s “Biophilia” is out!

We are so glad it is not this one. It’s actually the one above and, as per usual, it’s as beautiful as we expect from the Icelandic diva who never fails to impress. We are currently hooked on “Virus” and can’t wait for more and more from Biophilia. This officially gets the highest rating we’ve ever given for an album cover: 9/10.

Bjork’s song “Virus” leaks!

1

A third song from Icelandic goddess Bjork’s eagerly-awaited Biophilia has leaked. In true Bjork fashion, it throws you a new arrangement at every angle and although its hard to digest, it’s easier and prettier than usual. Much to many people’s dismay, Bjork’s “return to form” is sounding like nothing we have heard before, but surprisingly, we (who didn’t appreciate Volta muchly and didn’t care for Medulla) are actually liking what we hear. A lot of strings make the heart cozy. Click below to listen to it.

Must-Watch: Video Premiere: “Crystalline” by Bjork

1

Bjork is back with a visual to titivate and show all the little boys and girls what a great video should be like. The song is a grower and we absolutely adore the ambient part towards the end. Lovely track with a whole lotta gusto. This is the first single off of her new album Biophilia, let’s hope all other tracks follow the same mantra!

Syrian singer Omar Souleyman remixes Bjork’s single “Crystalline”

We are both excited and irked for this collaboration. Excited because its a new project, a fresh sound and it has an Arabic flavor. Irked because we know this sound to well to give it experimental credibility and also because the lyrics that we just heard on the video probably have nothing to do with the concept of the song “Crystalline.” Still, we are glad it happened. This is for J.

Bjork announces first single from “Biophilia” titled “Crystalline”

Hold the press! One of the world’s greatest artists has unleashed some good news. Bjork‘s new album, which is set to come in iPad app form, is ready to blast! Biophilia has gotten a first single and its called “Crystalline,” which means “having the structure and form of a crystal.” Leave it to Bjork our vocabulary not once but twice before her album is released. Apparently, the album will be a meeting of music and nature. That has always been the case with Bjork’s album, but we will swing it as a new concept. This is very exciting news!
