Trailer for “For Colored Girls”

Exciting. It looks like the sisterhood flick we have been waiting for for a while. Having Janet Jackson in it makes it great, too. It would have been perfect if Mariah Carey didn’t bow out, but she is pregnant, allegedly, and has a Merry Christmas II You coming out soon.

Sacha Baron Cohen is set to play Freddie Mercury in biopic

Yes, news just in is that the man behind Bruno, Borat and Ali G will play the legendary Freddie Mercury of Queen in a biopic slated for 2011. We are really not OK with that as we remember that when he hosted some MTV awards show back in the day he made an insensitive AIDS joke about the Queen frontman that was unnecessary and disturbing. We know we are sounding like conservatives, but that was just crass and untimely for a subject so delicate.

Janet Jackson’s promo poster for “For Colored Girls”

This is the a promo picture of Janet Jackson for her latest project For Colored Girls by Tyler Perry. She looks stellar as usual and we are kind of excited for this movie even if we think Tyler Perry’s movies are over dramatic and sometimes inconsistent and detached. But, Janet’s in it, so it’s all good, baby.

Taylor Swift responds to Kanye West’s apology

1

“Taylor is furious that Kanye keeps discussing the VMAs incident. She’s fed up of hearing about it and is disgusted that he has the cheek to use her name to promote his new album! Taylor has moved on from the incident and is hoping Kanye will – eventually – do the same.”

Kanye West writes apology song for Taylor Swift

3

“I wrote a song for Taylor Swift that’s so beautiful and I want her to have it. If she won’t take it then I’ll perform it for her. She had nothing to do with my issues with award shows. She had no idea what hit her. She’s just a lil girl with dreams like the rest of us. She deserves the apology more than anyone. When I woke up from the crazy nightmare I looked in the mirror and said GROW UP KANYE … I take the responsibility for my actions. I am not a bad person. Even in that moment I was only trying to do good but people don’t always need my help. Beyonce didn’t need that. MTV didn’t need that and Taylor and her family friends and fans definitely didn’t want or need that.”

Video Premiere: “The Comet Song” by Bjork

Bjork‘s new album might not be anywhere to be heard, but she is working hard with the movie revival of the famous Finnish cartoon The Moomins. This is the video and song off of the soundtrack of the movie we are dying to see. If you grew up in the 90s’ you’ll know what we are talking about.

Nick Cannon addresses Mariah’s pregnancy

“I’ve have said it before and I’ll say it time and time again: when my wife feels like talking about whatever she wants to talk about, you will hear it directly from her. We all know it’s extremely personal, and it’s for a woman to deal with things with her body, especially when dealing with the idea of childbirth and all that stuff. Pregnancy is something you want to keep near and dear and as close to you as you possibly can, until you’re 100% sure. In any situation, there is a certain time limit you’re supposed to wait before you can actually officially say that you are and all that stuff. You don’t want to mislead anybody.”

Documentary: Wild Combination (2008)

Wild Combination: A Portrait of Arthur Russell

Image via Wikipedia

Arthur Russell‘s biographical documentary Wild Combination geared us towards looking into his impressive yet not very available discography. We have to say that we fell in love with his sullen and melancholy folksy songs in an instant. It awakened us into an era of music that we weren’t very familiar with and introduced us to a talent that sounds like a haunting prelude to the likes of Radiohead and Antony & The Johnsons. A powerful documentary that will leave you thinking and wanting more. Definitely a must-watch.

Christina Aguilera already getting bad reviews for “Burlesque” acting job!

21

This is not Christina Aguilera’s year. Not only are videos about her attitude problem going viral online and her album tanked majorly, but her big screen debut is being torn apart after the release of several versions of the trailer and snippets of the film. The comments on the trailer and around blog mostly all negative. We personally think her acting is horrible in the 2 snippets and trailer we have seen. On top of all of that, there is another film named Burlesque coming out at the same time.
