As you might know, Madonna is allegedly being sued for her usage of the term “Girls Gone Wild” by none other than the guy who started the soft-porn hit videos. At any rate, should this issue be resolved quickly, Madonna’s “Girls Gone Wild” should be one of the singles from MDNA. Why, you ask? First it was highlighted on the album sampler as of one of three snippet-worthy tracks (which included “Give Me All Your Luvin”"). Second, apart from Hard Candy and Bedtime Stories, all her other full-length album had the first song on the track list released as a single. Third, it sounds like a robust dance hit. Fourth, it’s the only song on the album produced by Benny Bennasi. Finally, the name’s catchy and “Gang Bang” will definitely not resonate on American radio. All of these factors lead us to believe that it will be a single, if not the next one in line. Feel free to disagree in the comments section below.

Exclusive: Nadine Coyle premieres “Don Julio” in New York City!
1We had the pleasure of seeing our favorite Girl Aloud, Nadine Coyle, performs several tracks at MuuMuse.com‘s event #Gumbopop in New York City. The best vocalist in the group, in our humble opinion, performed her single “Insatiable,” a dance remix of “Runnin’,” the new single “Sweetest High” and this new track titled “Don Julio,” which is also tentatively titled “Save Me.” Great re-tweaking of some of the tracks and lovely new song. The video quality is shaky but we were partying hard! Continue reading
Lofty Prediction: Lady Gaga’s “You & I” will do poorly, by her standards!
1Way to jump the shark in style, but Lady Gaga’s “You & I” has all the ingredients to fail miserably. Not only is it not up to par with her dance-heavy oeuvre, but its video is not piquing many people’s appetites. The song, coming from a pop diva, is standard road-trip country fodder. It started out feeling like a rendition of John Lennon’s “Imagine,” but ends up with jukebox twang that is best avoided in today’s market. Not only that, but the ridiculous dancing in the video really left people thinking if Gaga’s theatrics are overwhelming many people and clouding her talent. Keep in mind, this prediction of ours attempts to pre-tell the failure of the single, by her standards, which means she might reach places, but it won’t be no big hit.
What do you think?
Exclusive: Official cover art of Jill Scott’s “Vault” album releases!

Loft965.com is very happy to bring you the album covers for the vault releases of Jill Scott’s Hidden Beach recordings. The above cover is the regular album and the one below is the deluxe version of it. The Original Jill Scott From The Vault Vol. 1, is set to chronicle all that didn’t make it on the albums and more. High off of the heals of her her first number one album, The Light Of The Sun, Jill Scott has more to offer this year. Can’t wait to review this one.
Lofty Prediction: Britney Spears’ “I Wanna Go” will not do well!
4As much as we love this song from Britney Spears’ seventh album Femme Fatale, we don’t think it’s chart performance will be up to par. Why you ask? Well, she has been too consistent if there is such a thing. This is the third dance single of the same ilk. the two track before it did well in all music standard but Britney’s standards. Still, there’s room for another dance ditty and it is summertime. But, “I Wanna Go” sounds to similar to both her offerings. Don’t get us wrong, we love it. We just don’t think we have what it taked to overdo what the previous two singles did.
Exclusive: 5 Questions With Loft965.com: Nerina Pallot
21. Greetings from Kuwait! Loft965.com picked your song “Put Your Hands Up” as a “Sexy Track” of 2011. How do you feel about that and what will be the next single?
I do believe this is the first time any track of mine has been described as ‘Sexy’. That alone has made my day, so thank you! I think the next single will either be ‘Turn Me On Again’ or ‘All Bets Are Off’. Not sure which order.
2. Your new album is titled Year Of The Wolf. That’s not one of the animals that is included in the Chinese zodiac calendar. How did that name come about?
It’s slightly sentimental – my baby son is called Wolfie, and as much of the album was written and recorded while I was pregnant with him, it seemed a fitting title. I did consider calling it ‘Year of the Carrot’ just coz, you know, it seemed like fun.
3. We love “Damascus” so much. What was the inspiration behind the song and have you been there?
Thank you, glad you like the song. I have been to Damascus, a few times, as a child on my way to India with my mother to see my family there. We used to fly some complicated routes, so I’ve stopped off in loads of Middle Eastern cities over the years on my way to India. I guess as a kid, I was really into Bible stories, and I loved the one about St Paul having his epiphany on the road to Damascus. I used that metaphor to describe a relationship that has ended after years of waiting for a Damascus moment that never came.
4. We know you have worked with Kylie Minogue. How is she to deal with and what was your inspiration behind writing “Aphrodite” the title track, which became the ongoing theme that seemed to have carried through the whole album and its tour?
Kylie is everything an icon should be. They say that you shouldn’t meet your idols but in her case she is just fantastic. I wrote “Aphrodite” with my husband shortly after we started working with her. I wanted to craft her a song that was as a celebration of her as an icon and the power of women in general. But not in a ball-breaking, women are better than men way – more a celebration of femininity, love and playful sexuality – all the things I feel Kylie radiates. I was so proud that she chose to name the album and tour after that track – and going to see her open the show with it is definitely one the highlights of my life.
5. We love quotes, what is your favorite quote or motto?
It’s by my bedside and it’s one from Winston Churchill : ‘Never, ever, ever, ever give up.’
And I like that one that goes ‘Shit happens.’ I reckon that’s a Zen master one. It’s certainly true.
Nerina Pallot’s single “Put Your Hands Up” is out now. The album Year Of The Wolf will be out on June 13th, 2011.
Lofty Prediction: Lady Gaga’s album “Born This Way” will be officially released ahead of its time!
3Well, the album just leaked. This is not a brainstormer. But the record label was expecting to make mega-bucks off of it and it will not sit around for 6 or 5 more days until everyone and their great grandmother has the album. Born This Way was a premie, so the release will probably be pushed earlier because the record label wants it and because no seller or stocker will reject it.
Lofty Prediction: SiA Furler to work heavily on Christina Aguilera’s new album!
2First of all, let’s all attest to the fact that the best track on Christina Aguilera’s flop of an album Bionic was the SiA Furler-penned track “You Lost Me.” Not only that, but the section she worked on was the only listenable part of the disc. Now, judging from what Xtina went through, you’d think she’d sign up and collaborate with a bunch of new artists, perhaps ones ruling the charts right now. Well, maybe it will be true, but guessing by how chummy the two have become, it seems like you haven’t seen an artistic end to their friendship which now has grown so big that Christina Aguilera assigned SiA a place on her reality show The Voice. Also, SiA is one of the greatest artists of our time so why not?
Exclusive: Nerina Pallot performs acoustic version of “If I Lost You Now”
1As a part of the promotional campaign to launch Nerina Pallot’s forth album Year Of The Wolf, Loft965.com has been sent an exclusive performance of her new song “If I Lost You Now.” We definitely like what we hear and can’t wait for the album to drop on June 13th, 2011!
Exclusive: 5 Questions With Loft965.com: Lenka
11. Greetings from Kuwait! Loft965.com picked your song “End Of The World” as a “Sexy Track” of 2011. How do you feel about that and what’s the inspiration behind the song?
Awesome thanks! That song is a romantic fantasy, but also expresses my fears about “armageddon” and the world changing and falling apart… I thought if i put it into a song, maybe it’ll all be alright!
2. We love “Heart Skips A Beat.” What will be your next single?
Not sure yet, maybe “Two?” Each territory might choose a different 2nd single!
3. Your first solo single “The Show” was featured heavily from everything to shampoo ads to TV shows to the soundtrack of the movie Easy A. How do you feel about that and were you expecting this kind of reception when you put the song out?
I wasn’t expecting it, but i definitely welcomed it! Especially the film placements. I get really excited when my songs are used creatively, and i’m very grateful for the new listeners it creates…
4. Your new album, the aptly-titled Two, is already out. How would you describe it and who were you influences during the recording process?
There aren’t really any direct influences, only that i wanted to make an upbeat, danceable LOVE record that is pop, but not too pop. I worked with Guy Sigsworth, who was a long-time Bjork collaborator, and I think her early albums have always been a strong influence for me. I love that spirited, celebratory energy.
5. We love quotes, what is your favorite quote or motto?
“Every dark cloud has a silver lining.”

Lofty Prediction: Beyonce’s “Run The World (Girls)” will take off when the video lands!
1This is an obvious one. Still, many people are surprised that the new Beyonce single “Run The World (Girls)” hasn’t catapulted itself into the number one spot on iTunes. It’s currently sitting at a measly number 24 on the chart. Still, who thought that “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)” would amount to anything? Imagine the song without the video? As beyonce would say: “This is a disaster!” Wait for the video and watch.
Lofty Prediction: Beyonce’s fourth album will leak earlier than expected!
1Beyonce is readying her campaign for the highly-anticipated fourth album this summer. Still, who expected “Girls (Who Rule The World)” would leak that fast. We originally thought that Beyonce will release her album at the end of summer or even the very lucrative fourth quarter of the year. With the single surfacing, which won’t be replaced with another as the video is already made, the album might be pushed earlier. Also, if it was that easy of leak for Beyonce’s first single, which is usually the single the brings in the most moola, then how would it be for the other tracks. At any rate, this is just a prediction, but we intuitively feel it.
Lofty Prediction: Raja will win RuPaul’s Drag Race season 3!
6Yes, Raja it is. This is just a prediction, so don’t get your panties twisted. Why you say? Well, first there is much speculation about this subject around the blogs and a multitude of fora. Second, this is a little known fact, but we remember that sometimes in 2001 or 2002 RuPaul blogged about seeing a great drag performer in some LA club by the name of Raja Gemini, allegedly. Third, she is the fiercest mo-fo on the show. Although we love us some Manila Luzon, who has been consistently good throughout the show, we think Raja has it all and a bag of chips. Of course, Alexis Mateo will not win, she’s fashionably-backwards, not the pretty in illusion and dated. We can only see the Heathers winning and there’s a certain spark to Raja that is very hard to find. We’ll have to wait a week to find out, but we feel the deal is sealed, what do you think?
Exclusive: 5 Questions With Loft965.com: Agnes Obel
1Lofty Prediction: Britney Spears’ “Until The World Ends” will not do well!
4Why? Well, we feel it didn’t get enough airplay. Also, it was released too close to “Hold It Against Me” and too close to the leak of the album Femme Fatale, so it kind of got lost in the crowd. Moreover, it’s definitely not the best from the leaked tracks. But, maybe the video will be spectacular, but we don’t see it.
Exclusive: 5 Questions With Loft965.com: Nicole Atkins
1Lofty Prediction: Lady Gaga will release her second single “Judas” before the album!
1It might not seem like it, but “Born This Way” has been released for more than a month and it has already lost so much steam! The track wasn’t strong enough to carry an album all by itself, that is why we think that Lady Gaga will release her rumored second single “Judas” before her album Born This Way. First, there is too much of a gap between the first single and the album, which will be released in 2 months on May 23rd. Second, both her record label and her know that people are more likely to buy the single without the album being available. That way, the song its video and remixes will get more airtime and still manage to bring in the big numbers, even if it comes a week or two before the album. What do you think?
