Three-day marathon of karaoke! One of our friends would love that!
An ode to one of my favorite subjects.
It’s time to give back to Mother Earth. As of today, I am embarking on a three-week adventure into the wilderness of Madagascar. I am going to do some volunteer work on environmental conservation and a lemur study program. As you might know, the secluded island nation of Madagascar has some of the most interesting and different flora and fauna of any nation on earth. Unfortunately, due to an increase in human population, deforestation has led to many of the species being either endangered or have gone completely extinct. One of the animals unique to this land is the lemur. I am glad to be a part of this program.
For the next couple of weeks, I will live in the middle of the jungle with no electricity, no phone service, minimal contact and camp in a tent eating rice and beans everyday. So, I will not have internet service. Meanwhile, the blog will be maintained with timed posts and a contributor has offered to take care of it. The blog might not be the same for a few, but bear with us until we finish enjoying this adventure. Who knows, it could be better than when I ran it!

Kelis has gone off on animal rights activist group PETA because the criticized her from wearing fur. And apparently, she’s a rodent hater because rats and chinichillas do not deserve a life according to her. We’ve always had our qualms with PETA as they are happy for any celebrity publicity, yet we have never seen them throw red paint on a KFC. Yes, Kelis might be mercinary of sorts, yet she’s nothing compared to all the steakhouses in the world. Click below to read what she said.
Taiwanese biologists have discovered a new species of crab that looks like a strawberry and is very rare. Here’s the gist: “With a bright red shell covered with small white spots, the crab resembles a large strawberry. Scientists at the University say that the newly discovered species is similar to the previously discovered Neoliomera pubescens, which is native to the waters near Hawaii, Polynesia and Mauritius–but has a broader (1 inch), clam-shaped shell that makes it a distinct new species.”
A Swedish beverage company has come up with a new way of packaging wine without taking into consideration wine’s archaic design of bottling. Åkesson has come of with an eco-friendly, disposable way of markting wine with thick paper and not a box. It looks like your average orange juice packaging but there’s a lot of detail into it. They have also come up with designs for other types of alcoholic drinks. Click below to view.
