Video Premiere: “Still (A Weirdo)” by KT Tunstall

This is KT Tunstall’s first single for the UK campaign for the promotion of her third and eagerly-awaited album Tiger Suit. It’s quieter than the US single “Fade Like A Shadow,” but we like it better and the beat is great, it kind of reminds us of Michael Jackson’s “Stranger In Moscow.” Lovely little summer-creeping-into-autumn ditty.

Tunstall’s on her third album and we are probably as excited for her new album Tiger Suit as we are for Body Talk PT3. This is the lead single, which is usually the most rockin’ track on the set. This will be the first single in the US, but the first single in the UK will be titled “(Still A) Weirdo.” Not sure why that is, but radio formats are not as experimental in the US, so we are guessing the US release is the “Suddenly I See” of the album  and it will be the next single for KT in the UK. Just a guess!

Must-Listen: Robyn’s new track “Dancing On My Own” has leaked!

Okay, so this is special news. Not many a-time does a song come and grab you from your shirt this fast and this strongly. So, this song from one of our all time pop faves Robyn is going to be on her album Body Talk Pt.1. It is also a great return to form! It’s new and fresh and although most blogs say that it is the continuation of “With Every Heartbeat,” but we think it’s really “Be Mine” part 2. Both lyrically and sonically. Pure bliss!

Janet Jackson not working on a new album!

2

Contrary to what many believed, Janet Jackson is not working on a new album. Her new single is “Nothing” and it’s a one-off for the soundtrack of her new film. There have been no plans for a new album as she decides whether to sign on to another record label or go completely independent, which is a brave consideration from her part and should reap her many benefits. “There was a time where I was actually in the studio and I was recording, but I’m not working on an album,” she says. “There have been a lot of record labels that have asked me to sit down and talk with them, but I don’t know if I want to do something completely independent, or go with a major.” Discipline was Jackson’s first disc on Def Jam after she left her longtime label Virgin.

Natalie Merchant’s new album makes songs out of childhood poetry

1

Natalie Merchant’s new album Leave Your Sleep first started out to be a concept album of nursery rhymes. Then it grew into a project on poetry that deals with childhood. Two discs full of these songs came up. So, the album will be melodically arranged and put together by her, but the lyrics will be of poetry. Also, the  a one disc CD will be available as A Selection Of Songs From Leave Your Sleep.

Kelis performs “Acapella” live with splits!

This club performance is the first of the promotional campaign for Kelis’s new album Flesh Tone. The song “Acapella” garnered some acclaim and could be a big club jam. Her new fashion states might be a little Gaga-ish but Kelis has always been on the cutting edge of trends. Check out the early videos from her debut album.

Introducing… Sabrina Washington

Aside from the hits, Alesha Dixon is not the only salvageable thing from Mis-Teeq. Enter Sabrina Washington, a former member of Mis-Teeq. She is the UK’s answer to LeToya Luckett. Well, she managed to land a record deal and is prepared to take over the world (maybe?) with her first single “OMG (Oh My God).” The single samples Snap!’s “Rhythm Is A Dancer” and has already gotten the video treatment which we featured a while ago. The single will be out March 22, 2010 and the album will drop a little later titled Dirty Pop.
