Premiere: Video: “Devil’s Spoke” by Laura Marling

1

“Devil’s Spoke” is the first single from Laura Marling’s second album. There is a deeper rootsy and somewhat of a country sound. Her album is called I Speak Because I Can and it will be released on March 22, 2010.

Official cover for Ellie Goulding’s debut album “Lights”

This is an old picture but we love what they did with it. They zoomed in, added the light lines and did a really good job with the typeface and fonts. Lovely cover and probably works with the music. Lights comes out March 1st, 2010.

Introducing… Daisy Dares You

1

Daisy Dares You is a new singer with a song of the same title. The British singer is great fusion between Girls Aloud and Republica. Her voice is unique and her looks are a bit porcelain doll. The sound is a grower and, surely, with a little promo it will go a long way. Daisy Dares You has been selected as one of the BBC’s artists to look out for in 2010. Click here for her MySpace page.

Adam Lambert visits The View

We don’t understand what all the hoopla is about, really. And why is he a little apologetic about it saying he got carried away. He really didn’t do anything. We don’t see Lil’ Wayne and Eminem apologizing for objectifying and disrespecting women. Seriously, parents are not OK with a little hanky panky of stage, but ok with misogyny. Give us a break!

Her debut album titled Anuhea, was released on April 21, 2009. Right Love, Wrong Time, a single from her album, was picked as iTunes single of the week. Her sound is easy-breezy with an Oahu tint. Cover for the Britney Spears singles collection, maybe

sc

The Singles Collection is way too close to Greatest Hits: My Prerogative. But, she needs to make some money y’all. And this will hopefully include all the singles ever. She might need more than one disc for it. It is rumored that this is the cover, which is not bad, but not a new photoshoot. Lady GaGa wrote a song for the album called “Telephone,” which should be the single. Also leftovers from Britney (“Bring Me Home”) and Circus (“Whiplash”). Two previously unreleased track will make it also. “Hush Hush” and “Hold On To Me.” Looks promising!

Fresh: Video: “Sabotage” by Kristinia DeBarge

We were half an inch away from including this song on SlinkyPop, but the beau told us otherwise. We can understand, that it is to templated and made-for-radio. But, it could be one big club stomper. The video;s quality is not that good, but once it’s officially released we will update. We still can’t believe she is the daughter of Janet Jackson’s former husband and wife-beater.

Introducing… Muhsinah

1

cd_triangle

We should have bitten our own tongues before insinuating that neosoul may be dead. An accidental stumble lead us to Muhsinah – a new raw talent that proves us otherwise. The American soulstress has recently released her latest “installation” of music. She calls them that because unlike the album-to-album releases most everyone does, she releases a record and then adds and edits along the way. It’s makes for a hard catalogue to track down, but one can’t judge an artist’s personal evolution.

Sliimy signs to Perez Hilton’s record label

Back when we introduced him we thought he was a French pop star with a some talent. Now, Sliimy broke that mold and is the first artist officially signed to Perezcious Records. If Perez is releasing his album Paint Your Face in the US, it won’t work out. It’s just not cut out for that market. It might fair well in some niche markets like the hispter demographic and the gay community, but that’s about it. He doesn’t have enough good songs to carry it (Check this and this).

Introducing… Ellie Goulding

1

l_4c82fe88076b4e45b220318855ffe5ab

If to 2009 is the year of anything other than the death of the late and great Michael Jackson, it is the year of electro. All kinds. Ladyhawke, La Roux, Lady GaGa, Frankmusik, Noah, VV Brown, Little Boots, Lykke Li and many others. And they keep on coming and coming. This time around it’s the first-listen impressive Ellie Goulding who is making waves across MySpace and the electroclash blogosphere. We first heard of her a while back but she didn’t have enough tracks. But now with solid numbers like the remix-ready “Starry-Eyed” and the hard-to-overcome “Wish I Stayed” featuring “it” boy Frankmusik. The music is electronic but accessible. She fuses acoustic aspects with clash beats. Kind of like Madonna’s last good moment on American Life. The beats are loud and solid but the lyrics are opulent with emotion. Exactly what the iPod doctor prescribes.
