Monica is ready to bask in the glory of Still Standing further but releasing another album this year tentatively titled New Life. The Grammy-nominated singer has worked with Missy Elliott and Polow for the new album. She explained: “My family and I are doing some really fun things this summer. My husband and I have been experiencing some really great things. We’ve only been married 6 months. Having someone to share everything with has been so much fun and so refreshing and so uplifting for me. Sometimes, being in the music industry for as long as I have can feel like the weight of the world. It’s lifted so much off me to have someone to genuinely love.”

Again: Music For May: Xylemony
6In true May compilation fashion, we have opted for a more organic, laid-back folk-tinged feel on this one. This ones for the rest before the summer hoopla. It’s the kind of music we like to listen to on our in days. There undiscovered gems in there, oldies and some tracks that will knock you off your feet, lofties. This is 100% percent organic. Xylemony comes from the merger of “Xylem” and “Testimony” with context to personal growth and self-nurture, in case you didn’t know.

2
We have to say that even though we didn’t like her late album Colour Me Free, we are awaiting her new independent return. She had a lot of trouble with her record label and now she is free and started the aptly titled Stone’d Records. Her new album is called LP1 and it’s set to drop this year. Click below for the track “Back In Style.”
Introducing… Abigail Washburn
1If American old-time music is about taking earlier, simpler ways of life and music-making as one’s model, Abigail Washburn has proven herself to be a bracing revelation to that tradition. She—a singing, songwriting, Illinois-born, Nashville-based clawhammer banjo player—is every bit as interested in the present and the future as she is in the past, and every bit as attuned to the global as she is to the local. She pairs venerable folk elements with far-flung sounds, and the results feel both strangely familiar and unlike anything anybody’s ever heard before. To put it another way, she changes what seems possible.
Tori Amos announces new album “Night Of Hunters” and tour!
1It’s official. Today, we woke up to an email from Tori Amos‘ mailing list telling us that, aside from the fact that the musical she is working on is almost ready, the diva is ready to unleash a new album titled Night Of Hunters, currently slated for a September release. The album is going to be a magnifying look at classical music, a genre Tori Amos has loved forever.
Here’s what she had to say about it: ”It’s a 21st century song cycle inspired by classical music themes spanning over 400 years. I have used the structure of a song cycle to tell an ongoing, modern story. The protagonist is a woman who finds herself in the dying embers of a relationship. In the course of one night she goes through an initiation of sorts that leads her to reinvent herself allowing the listener to follow her on a journey to explore complex musical and emotional subject matter. One of the main themes explored on this album is the hunter and the hunted and how both exist within us.”
As if this wasn’t enough, Tori Amos has also announced a tour to go along with it! Click below for the dates.

Sexy Track: “Phakade” by Lira
Sweet and sultry, Lira’s fourth full-lengther develops the sounds that we have gotten so used to and have grown to love. Here, you are taken to an African landscape lush with life and colors – a great soulful feel that her oeuvre is characteristic of. The video is also breathtaking and gives you an aura of serenity and warmth. This is just a lovely song that you can play on repeat forever.

George Michael to release new album inspired by house music!
1Just when you thought he actually retired George Michaels comes out with a synth-infused cover of New Order’s “True Faith,” a remastered version of his epic album Faith and news on a whole new album!
“Somebody said to me, “This album is going to be like a more electronic Faith, because your writing with that directness again.” I think there’s a lot more joy to put in the writing this time around. Since I’ve been out as a gay man, house music has been more of an influence in my life. So ultimately as a gay man, you don’t really stop listening to club music as early as straight people do and I wanted the album to reflect that,” Michael explained to BBC Radio 2.
Introducing… Nick Pes
1We have scoured the web to find a biography of Nick Pes, one of our latest muses, and all that could find is a small introductory paragraphy. What you need to know is that he is the latest Aussie export to usher in some more glamazon-electro beats that will definitely make you dance. Now, here’s that little synopsis: “Since the disbandment of ‘Leechwife’, the rock outfit he once wrote and performed with, Nick began experimenting with music he could make by himself. A couple years later and Nick’s exploration into electronic music has lead to the creation of a number of electronic slash pop slash dance slash genre-less tracks. He sounds a little bit like this, a little bit like that and a little bit like something you’ve never heard before. The Cinaesthesia EP was released in September 2010.”
