Again: Music For July: Hodgepodger

3

This one was hastily done, hence the name Hodgepodger. It has no concept and is merely a disorganized and topsy-turvy pile of gems. It’s all over the place, but it has some solid beats that can set your summer on the right course. The track list is unorganized intentionally to correlate with the theme of the compilation.

The one and only SiA Furler has finally unleashed the glory that is the artwork for her fourth solo album We Are Born. Yes, the album that was anointed to be the album of the year by Loft965.com headquarters has finally gotten a visual. We are so excited about this, even more excited that Natalie Merchant’s return to the limelight. The album will be released on June 8th, 2010. The sleeve is very cute but too close to the US version of its predecessor Some People Have Real Problems. Six of the tracks on the album, including the single “Clap Your Hands,” are available to stream on her official website.

Introducing… Sabrina Washington

Aside from the hits, Alesha Dixon is not the only salvageable thing from Mis-Teeq. Enter Sabrina Washington, a former member of Mis-Teeq. She is the UK’s answer to LeToya Luckett. Well, she managed to land a record deal and is prepared to take over the world (maybe?) with her first single “OMG (Oh My God).” The single samples Snap!’s “Rhythm Is A Dancer” and has already gotten the video treatment which we featured a while ago. The single will be out March 22, 2010 and the album will drop a little later titled Dirty Pop.

Premiere: Video: “Morning After Dark” by Timbaland featuring SoShy

Timbaland’s back at it. The video version only features SoShy because Nelly Furtado’s vocals were recorded after. We can imagine her vocals sounding so ill on this. But the opening statement: “Italy is so amazing, mom” is so American it makes us want to barf. Some American think that Italy is the only travel destination in the eastern hemisphere. Like, Rome and stuff.

TLC (T-Boz and Chilli) have reunited for a hot minute after a 7-year gap to perform at Justin Timberlake’s concert in Las Vegas. The twosome came out in full force to sing some of their biggest numbers including “No Scrubs,” “Ain’t 2 Proud 2 Beg” and “What About Your Friends?” There are no rumors of a reunion, but the two did it as a favor for Justin Timberlake. The show, benefiting Shriners Hospitals for Children, also featured sets from Alicia Keys, Ciara, Snoop Dogg, Taylor Swift, Jay Sean, and Timbaland.
