We managed to get it with the last standing dock in the entire country. It’s 64 GB, that means it could only take a third of our music collection if we decided to fill it up completely. Let’s not even consider the videos. So, we just settled for Undersea Poem’s debut and Kate Nash’s My Best Friend Is You (maybe tomorrow Janelle Monae’s Archandroid and Natalie Merchant’s Leave Your Sleep). But, we love it. We already got all the magazine subscriptions that we can’t get over here because some censor decided to have a field day on boobies. The application is called Zinio and we got yearly memberships of Rolling Stone and Out. Because, we are. It’s smooth and handy. We love it and can’t get enough of it. And, no, it’s not a big iPhone or a small Macbook Air. It’s a creature of its own, especially if you like reading. Best apps post coming up soon. We called it LoftPad, bitches.
Now, another one to file under complete ignorant absurdity, Esquire magazine has allegedly proclaimed Kelly Clarkson to be “the best voice in the history of pop music” in a recent article. The elitist upmarket magazine has chosen American Idol winner as the one and only greatest voice in pop history. If that is not a miseducated assessment, we don’t know what it. Whatever happened to Minnie Riperton, Donna Summer, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Toni Braxton, Christina Aguilera, Phyllis Hyman, Anita Baker, Brandy, Monica, Jill Scott, Chaka Khan and the rest of the beautiful voices? Even Jessica Simpson is good contender against Kelly Clarkson, and that’s most definitely not a compliment! It’s just sad to see people who are supposed to be top notch journalist make such an invalid and sweeping statement. They best thing Kelly Clarkson did to pop history is that she showed the world how reality programs of the American Idol sort never make pop stars but make lobby music singers, apart from Adam Lambert of course!
Kate Nash’s eagerly awaited second album My Best Friend Is You has leaked all over the face of the internet. The album’s supposed to bring an edgier and punkier Nash to the forefront without alienating any of Birds fans. This is bound to hurt her chart performance. Click here to investigate the detrimental leak.
A very nice person has sent us a mini-picture of what is allegedly and possibly the cover of Kate Nash’s muchly-awaited sophomore album My Best Friend Is You. From the looks of it, there has been a lot of professional work poured into the sleeve so it looks bona fide. We love it and we hope to get you the official version very soon in good quality.
Things are heating up over at the Kate Nash camp what with the release of her sophomore offering My Best Friend Is You. We got the first single, the teaser, the video and now the tracklisting. Now, all that’s left is the cover art and the actual CD. Click below to check out the tracklist.
The Ting Tings are still doing the promotion rounds for their first album We Started Nothing in the US. They are nominated for the Best New Artist category at the Grammy’s. So, some more buzz is building around them stateside. This song is old to us, but we can’t wait to listen to their new album Kunst.
Last year The New York Times named Beirut the #1 place to go to in 2009. This year, the list is out and there is not trace of Beirut. It was replaced by Sri Lanka at the top spot (which we fully agree with as we visited Weligama, Kandy, Colombo and Taprobane Island and absolutely adored it). But, interestingly enough, Damascus, also a place of untapped touristic gold, has sprung up at #7. The article explains: “The next Marrakesh? Perhaps mindful of the way that renovations of historic riads have drawn upscale travelers to Marrakesh, Damascus hoteliers are trying to mine tourism gold in the rundown buildings of the Syrian capital’s Old City.”
Also, the most compelling entry at #9 is Antarctica. Now, that’d be fun. Let’s go!

It’s called Number Ones in some countries and The Best in others. Not that there’s anything new in it at all, but in case you are a Janet Jackson completist you might want to have this. But, it show how long and great of a career the other Jackson has had and, really, leaves you longing for more. Meanwhile, enjoy the fan-made megamix.
Nicolas Jonas had a solo career before he hit the big time with his album Nicholas Jonas. However, he is set to take on another project without the other Jonas Brothers. Apparently, he is doing the whole thing under cover before they go on tour. The album should surface sometime early 2010.
I had one today with my best friend.
